Driving on the interstate and noticed the drivers side mirror kept shifting a little bit. It's not the mirror itself, but where it pivots (to fold them in if needed). These are power rear view mirrors.
When I got home, I tried tightening the phillips head screws underneath the mirror, but they would not budge. I even popped off the trim piece on the inside of the truck to make sure the the three 10mm bolts were snug.
    Any ideas on this??

Yes the pivot pin it mounts on wears out. I'm currently doing a write up on it. The only tricky part is those 3 screws are loctited in. You'll break at least one off. Then you have to drill it out and retap hole.

Hey Jon, any luck?? I found an old post on Yotatech.com below. I'm tempted to pour some 5 min clear epoxy down where it pivots.

My yota has fixed mirror frames, and the actual mirror moves from wind turbulence when traveling at higher speeds. Is there a fix for that?

Ya I fixed mine just have to do a write up on it. The only draw back is your going to break at least one of those three screws off. My drivers mirror I broke all 3 off. So plan on buying a new mirror just in case. I was able to drill and tap mine out. If That's something you don't think you can do. Then just buy a new mirror. If you wanting to do some custom stuff to the mirror. Maybe a new mirror will come apart easier. when I say custom stuff I mean like this on my truck:
    https://youtu.be/XpuyExexA_M

I'm doing a write up on this to.

The actual whole mirror body or just the glass?

The pivot knob on the inside is really loose when I get the mirror positioned to where I want it.

That's alright thanks for trying. I'll document with photos and a write up when I take it apart so if anyone else comes across this issue we have something to go off of. If its trashed I may replace them with the folding mirrors.

    Update....
I fixed it for now. I had some left over weather foam stripping (Frost King 3/4" Wide) that I used to fix the rattling around the passenger side air bag a while back. Used a plastic putty knife so I wouldn't scratch the mirror and stuffed as much as I could in the space between where the mirror mounts to the base. Honestly unless you are looking for it, you can't tell it's there. No more movement.

I have a similar issue, but for me the glass is wibbly wobbly and doesn't stay in place. I couldn't find any screws to tighten it... Any ideas?
