Except the $150 invested on the engine bay bracket already and a more difficult install (and another bracket) in the bed. I thought about this and would cost more than a dorkel and be decent sized project. You’re not wrong…. But I think it’s my last option at the moment

Damn kinda wish I had done that. A nice prefilter mesh material would make that perfect

I installed some c4 fender liners and just used a plastic plug I drilled out of a 5-gal bucket to plug the intake hole from the fender and then I drilled a 3" hole one on the back side of the intake box facing the firewall, I didn't run a tube to the cowl though like some guys do cause I also have an arb compressor in that area that I didn't want to route around.

    Appreciate the shoutout !

Lead time on FEND-X Liners for Trimmed Fenders is currently 4weeks and is designed to bolt-in to the inner fender well. Feel free to call with any questions, happy to help give a run down on the proper Fender trim. Most internet threads make it seem far more difficult than it really is. https://geartechcustoms.com/

Can you notice any difference with the throttle response? How long have you been running it this way?

Also, do you recall the diameter of the intake hole?

Also... I found another thread on this with a DIY fender liner that looks decent as well.

I just did a ~500 mile trip and I could feel a pretty minor difference. I've had chopped fenders for awhile now but I installed the c4 liners and finally plugged the intake hole earlier this year. If anything its less restrictive than running a tube into the cowl but it's also going to pull in hotter air. I might also drill a couple small holes in the front of the airbox to pull in some cooler air, this would probably also give it the little bit of throttle response it lost back.

I drilled a 3" hole, I believe the factory fender hole is around ~4"? I was the OP of that thread since I had the same concerns back then and I was looking to get some idea's of what others had done. I agree that it's also a good solution of what was posted in there. I purchased the same material as I was basically going to do the same thing but now I am going to use it to eventually build liners for the back/bedside wheel wells instead.

That first picture looks like it gave the fender a 1/2" lip-- is that the case?

Both (the white and silver Tacoma) pictures above have the same ‘kicker’ (lip) incorporated into the Fender edge of the FEND-X Liner. Main purpose of the kicker is covering the gap between the Flare and Fender that is incurred from when you trim the Flares.

With that said, the kickers can be dialed in flush to the Flare or made wider for use with Trimmed Bushwhacker Flares.

Price based on the overall Fender configuration selected. Here’s the FEND-X product page to select thru the different options for pricing out your setup :mudding:

For some reason, operator error I assume, the clips I purchased to reattach my plastic fender does not seem to seem to go flush. This was not a part of the process I would have issues with. Can someone verify that these are the correct ones for me?

What material did you end up using? Amazon purchase? I figured I would use some L-brackets to help support it.
