So I would like to utilize the through bolts that secure the Thule tracks to the top of my Leer 100XR (factory installed tracks) to either build, or buy some kind of molle rack system to the interior roof of the topper. I imagine someone here has already tackled this and can share their experience, but I came up short on multiple searches.

Anything goes here. I am looking for any and all ideas for how to secure items to the interior roof of my new topper.

I don't have big plans for a lot of weight up there, but would like the option to secure things up high, off the bed and out of the way.... More for emergency stuff that I don't need to get at all the time, but still want to be able to carry with me, if that makes sense?

    Lets see whatcha got!

There are several threads on this but I and some others just mounted D ring picture hangers under the Yakima capnuts. The lifting rings are overkill in my opinion and it wouldn't take me long before I banged my head into one of them and bled all over my bedding (I sleep in the back when camping).

I've got an elastic net but I don't ever use it; anything in it, even lightweight stuff like pillows, causes it to bounces up and down as you drive down the road and it's distracting in the rear view mirror. You really don't want much force pulling laterally in the fiberglass so it's not like you can tighten it down that much. I use two small RV gear hammocks, one on either side, to carry small items although they move around more than I like as well. I also use the rings as anchor points for 550 cord that I use to tent blankets above the bed when it's really cold out (since the shell is uninsulated), to hang my Black Diamond lantern (or occasionally my candle lantern) from, etc.

I've seen a machined plate that is secured from the through bolts from a roof rack that has hoops in the inside of it. The inside is bent down slightly to allow clearance to utilize the hoops. The whole setup was pretty slick and a lower profile than an eye nut. Of course I can't seem to find the thread now. If anyone can find it please post.

For the nets, did you buy longer bolts?

Not sure who you're asking but no, I didn't need them. The factory Yakima bolts had enough thread to have a few extending through the nut, even with the additional material.

I thought I had some better pictures from another thread but this is the only one I see on this laptop at the moment; it's an older picture and only (kinda barely) shows the front one in place with a gear hammock tied to it (I added extra hangers after this).

Yes, I really regret not getting the drop down front window to make cleaning easier. :homer:

Asking anyone really, thanks for the info. Yeah, I went with the drop front window for that reason.
