I’m curious to see what folks have done for bed lights in the 2016-2019 Tacomas. We aren’t lucky enough to have the pre-cut holes!

most guys go with the mattgecko strips under the accessory rails.

i don't like doing simple, and already planned for doing the molle panels for additional basic-need tiedown supports. so i integrated some non-waterproofed COB strips into some aluminum recessed channel into the molle panels, and then self-waterproofed them. they're triggered off a waterproof switch on the drivers side. i bypassed the trailer wiring 12v relay so it provides power all the time, and then just tied into a sacrificial 7 pin trailer extension harness.

I went simple. Battery operated light with double sided tape.

I did the MattGeckoLED strip as well. Recommend you just wait till they go on sale, he posts every time in the forums. It is quality product with full color instructions and everything you need EXCEPT alcohol swabs for cleaning under the rail.

i would argue that alcohol swabs aren't a necessity. any quality double-sided adhesive tape light strip like that just needs the surface to be clean and dry of debris.

i routinely do undercabinet lighting with similar quality tape light and will just use a wet paper towel, followed by a dry paper towel to prep for them. never had a problem in over 10 years of installing them that way.
