Ironman used to make a green one but it looks like they upgraded their materials so green was no longer available. I wanted green too, but this if fine. I only mount it when I'm going to use it.

I've got the Roam awning, mounted to my Sherpa Grand Teton. You have to use rope tie downs when the wind is kicking, but otherwise I like, gets the job done.

Its the 8ft slate version. Bought it from Sherpa back in August 21, paid $339. I probably overpaid, I didn't even shop around I just put one big order in at Sherpa for the rack, awning, roam 95L case, rotopax, brackets, etc.

Here’s my 23Zero Peregrine 180R mounted on the passenger side. It’s mounted to the Prinsu rack with the Prinsu quick release brackets:

I just bought the Alu awning and debating to go with the Mule brackets you have or drill and mount it.... seeing that you have done this on a Swift just like mine, what is your take on the mounting now that you've had this? Mule brackets seem better for re-sell and originally what I was thinking of mounting it with, but hearing you say how it doesnt seem strong enough to use with no leg down has me rethinking it, can you elaborate a bit more on these? Also any major mods for the bracket locations or just simple drill a couple new holes where needed?

Thanks in advance for any info and guidance!

I didn't have to drill any new holes to use them. You can use it without the leg deployed but it's not very stout at all like that and I would highly recommend deploying the leg. Still haven't had time to fab some more reinforcing brackets. I'm planning to mount up 2 more brackets that mount the awning directly to the camper.

Do you have more pictures as to how you attached the awning?

I've since taken the tent off of the truck and I don't have any photos. The Roam awning came with two L brackets and two flat pieces that look like mending braces. They're all very thick metal. I sandwiched them together with some bolts and slipped them into the tracks of the tent, then put some nuts on which secured the brackets to the tracks. I took out a bolt from the inside of the tent and dropped down a longer bolt of the same width through the brackets to prevent movement forward and back. Then the awning is attached to the L bracket. Very secure, no damage to tent, thousands of off-road miles later.

Describing it in words probably didn't help. Basically, the brackets that came with the awning are shoved in the tracks (same width) and secured to the tracks with bolts.

Do you have any photos of your set up closed and opened? I just got a smart cap and I’m curious about mounting it just to the smart cap and how weird it looks hanging over the front of the cab. Thanks
