KB Voodoo brackets and rack. Had to drill a few new holes to line up with the length of the MaxTrax on the older racks. But these things are rock solid so far

What tonneau cover is on your truck? I'm trying to figure out if I can mount the maxtrax in the same place and still add a Bakflip MX4 cover on. I still don't have the cover so....

    Hello TacomaWorld,

    Here's my setup:

I Purchased the Amazon FlareStar traction boards for $50 from here.

Walmart had the proper 7/8" wide T-nuts that fit in the notches in the bed rail slots here.

Ace Hardware and my "junk box" had the remainder of the parts for the brackets.
The total cost (including traction boards) was less than $80 bux, and surprisingly enough, they're on there pretty tight!

I'll try to get better pictures after I replace the all-thread with the correct length!

Got and installed the MAXTRAX Mounting Pin Set to the Rago Fabrication brackets. The fit is perfect and very secure. The boards just fit between the wheel wells. Almost looking forward to getting stuck!AvZpx+YfSe6yI4cl6A4X+g.jpggwez4ZFXRom7dbFdC9omIg.jpg

That's exactly what I needed to see. Want to mount my the same way and still retain the functionality of my bed rail!

Good luck man. This worked out well. Completely out of the way and the rails are still usable

Custom made Maxtrax MkII mount for the 3rd gen Tacoma! They bolt into the existing bolt hole using the oem bolt and hold two Maxtrax MkII Recovery Boards. The mounts are made of ABS. Let me know if you're interest in one!

Whats the 3D printed material? How does it hold up supporting the weight of the boards while wheeling?

Sorry, I should have stated that. I print them out of ABS. I actually just got back from a 6 hour round trip drive with a few hours of offroading that tested the mount while holding 2 Maxtraxs. The Maxtraxs also slighty rest on the wheel wells in the bed on the short bed which helps. But the mount is strong enough hold the Maxtraxs by themselves as they aren't very heavy to begin with. I haven't worked on a mount that holds 4 Maxtraxs but that's where I might be testing the limits. Unfortunately I don't have 4 Maxtraxs to use for test either. I should also mention that if it does break or if you aren't satisfied, I can provide a refund.

My Avid bed rack has a nice little compartment that works well for the traction boards. I hold them in place with a strap.

Has anyone here drilled into the top of a Plano (or similar) case to mount traction boards on top of their case that's on top of their roof?

I'm envisioning using the essentially unused space that is the top of a rifle case to mount something, rather than taking up my limited roof rack footprint for both boards AND cases. They're similar footprints already, it seems intuitively that it should work.

Could be a PIA when you go to open the case though..? Depending on how the truck is sitting I guess

    Fuck. That.

And not end of thread. Diggin these mounts so let's see more. I ordered my ebay tracks today and I'm thinking I'll fab up a mount with some t-nuts and flat steel from the hardware store. Needs to be able to fit it all under a tonneau cover.

Also, it's a real shame Toyota doesn't include these trucks with the front rail..
