Should I install the dust boots on front 5100s or not? Plus a few taco pics.

Got the front bilstein 5100s today. Planning to install Saturday morning. Ive read a few times here that the boots are not needed. Install or not? First pic is last hunting season at the camp. Second pic is a few weeks ago at fishing camp with new tires on.

I don't believe those shocks (as pictured on the box) are 5100's. They look like the 4600 series.

I don't think you need the dust boots, per se. More of just a preference thing. I don't think I'd put them on, but that's just for me in my day to day driving and occasional farm roads or dirt roads.

I didn't notice the box picture being wrong. I did open one, and saw the adjustable ring, so I know at least one of them is correct. Thanks for the heads up.

My bad it's just the box. Not enough coffee yet.

They'll come in bilsteins generic box like that. Should be correct. I personally do not install the dust boots/covers. Most will agree they trap mud, water, etc which leads to more problems then they help.

My 5100s came in that box as well, it's just their generic shipping box. I freaked out for a second when I received the package lol.

Some of the front 5100s come with dust boots, others don't. According to Headstrong, the newer ones made by Bilstein come with the dust shields on the front shocks. After I had my fronts installed, after one wheeling trip the dust boot fell off and is sliding up and down the shock underneath the coil. I recommend not using them.
