    I agree.. I got a 2013 DCSB for $23k with 20k miles..

I wanted a 3rd gen but my friend was having tranny issues with his. He had been back and forth to the dealership trying to fix it.. they eventually replaced it under warranty. But it was a hassle. They are very nice.. still thinking about buying one and keeping my 2nd gen as a trail rig.

    Good luck..

im pretty sure there's a difference between purchasing something and getting it for free.
of course anyone would take one for free.
not trying to argue which gen people think is better, who cares.

I'd take a 2nd gen for free. Then trade it for an old Jeep.

    Personally OP ,
I’d go for a 2012-2015 4.0, a lot of my buddy’s have 3rd gens and honestly, the only thing I like is the interior styling . I’ve test driven a couple 2017s they’re alright but I wouldn’t go automatic , I’d go for a manual. Either way both are a good choice it’s a Yota.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
    So, I've owned both.

If you purchase a 3rd gen, would you want to regear?

I'm happy with my 3rd gen. But if you are thinking about a 2015 model. I say go for that. The pinnacle of 2nd gen Tacomas

I would trade in my 3rd gen for a 2nd gen short bed OR if I could. Unfortunately when I was looking at buying a truck in '16 the 2nd gens were basically the same price and not what I wanted. I love my truck and will drive it till the wheels fall off (or the frame rusts away), but I really like the 2nd gens. Except those awful tail lights, they'd be swapped out immediately.

Bro the first and second gen Tacoma’s are the reason Tacoma’s have their reputation in the first place. If anything the third gen is the retarded accident with Camry engine/trans that piggy backs off previous models success. Relax

You wouldn't go automatic because of trans issues?

I’ve owned both, a 2014 dcsb 4.0 and my current 17 dclb. Between the two I hands down can say if I had the choice of either or, I would take the 3rd gen.
