Hi, I'm wondering if something like this could work or if there's a disadvantage that can't be overcome? There's a super cheap short box decked in my area but I have a long box. I figure there'd be a foot of open space at the front of the bed, which isn't so bad

Hey! Unfortunately, a short DECKED system will not work with a longer bed. Our systems are cut specifically to fit each sidewall perfectly and the hardware used to secure the DECKED to the truck bed will be different as well. You could cut down the sides to make it fit but we do not have a solution to secure the system to the bed without making it a liability. We also do not warranty second hand DECKED systems especially if they are customized to fit a different truck. Obviously not the answer you were hoping for but you will love you DECKED much more if you get the correct one for your truck.

@ovrlndkull has a short bed decked in his longbed. He can chime in with what it takes to get it to work.

False! I have a short bed decked in a LB you just have an extra 1ft at the very front of the bed. I use that space to store my tire and air compressor.
It will work you have a little over 1ft of space in the front part of the bed. I have my spare mounted there and an air compressor. I installed it just like you would a SB. Drilled through the wheel wells and used the tie downs in the front. It works really well. I am the only person that I have heard that has done it because of the answer that decked gives and others with the it won't work attitude. Well it damn sure does the wheel wells line up perfectly since the SB version of our trucks the length is taken away at the front of the bed the back 3/4 of the beds are identical. Just follow installation instructions they have them online and boom it's in. I even clears my AG shock relocation and TC rear bed ties.

I have no issues with it shifting around lifting up or anything like that. You can aske @EatSleepTacos I am not easy wheeling on my truck and it stays put.

Short bed decked in a LB! If you want some more pics let me know and I'll get some more if you need them.

That's pretty much what I figured. I know they have to say what they say for liability. If you have more pics I'd be interested in seeing them

For reference that's a 35x12.5 tire standing between the end of the decked and the front of the bed and there is about 1/2" give or take space. It's really an awesome set up I love it. Much more useable than my old toolbox in the middle of the bed set up. Downside is weight and more than I had previously hanging back behind the rear axle.

I should say I have a 3rd gen. Not sure if it matters. The short system is also 3rd gen

Someone on IG or FB in the last few days asked if a shortbed decked would fit on a longbed chevy or dodge (dont remember) and the Decked account said it would with a gap at the front. :notsure:

More pics also check out my IG ill make a lost about this with a short little video of the sides lining up. The messy straps are my signature move, plus it gives @EatSleepTacos a coronary so I gotta keep the MO alive.

Do you have any pictures of a long bed decked in a long bed? I am having a hell of a time finding anything besides short bed pictures online.

Disagree, he IS looking for the correct one for his use AND truck, maybe you should consider that before you make and sell a product? No worries that’s what these forums are for I’m positive it’s an easy fix you just missed. I’ll be doing the same and not asking permission
