I use a Thermacell for turkey hunting, wouldn't leave home without it, they are like magic, with one exception, wind. This is what I carry.
    upload_2023-6-28_19-33-2.png

There are also bigger units for home use, like this
    upload_2023-6-28_19-33-55.png https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai...=2ahUKEwjf6YGqj-f_AhWQPd4AHZWSB9AQwg96BAgBEHM

    and this

I don't have any experience with the larger ones, the small unit runs on butane. They have proprietary cartridges, but a quick YouTube video shows how to refill them with a typical can of butane. There is also a small consumable card that is inserted in the unit (the blue square behind the grill) to give off synthetic chrysanthemum scent, which is the repellent. One card will usually last me a season.

Kinda blows me away - I remember watching Happy Days with my parents in the 70s. They would always tell me stories about their own experiences back in the 50s.

20 years seemed like a century back then but now Y2K seems like it was just a few years back..

Those are a must have in a treestand during early archery season.

    @Evostaco

I have recently heard about some form of strip that you hang from trees (or whatever) and allegedly skeeters are attracted to them; supposedly they grab a quick bite, fly away and explode. I know, almost sounds too good to be true.:p
I have no idea what its called but I'll do some quick research and see what I can come up with.

Just finished making tomorrows lunch/supper, chicken parmesan with my own added improvement - sausage.

Yeah buddy, I impressed myself, Mrs Green too.

Now if I could just get her to eat chunky sauce :( that would be over the top good.

Working on figuring out what my wife and I are doing the week in August we took off. So far I have:

Pink Floyd cover band in Winnipeg Saturday night
Hotel in Winnipeg Saturday and Sunday

Nothing official yet but the rest of the week will involve driving to Thunder Bay, down to Duluth, MN then back to Fargo.

Most folks down in skeeterland here use citronella candles. There are skeeter companies now that will spray your yard to make it skeeter free. As well as those butane and propane units (make warm attractant that burns them up…). Those are all I know other than the old SkinSoSoft or deet creams/sprays.

Mosquito update: did some research and found a method I'm going to try.

My backyard buts up against an old creek bed. So there's always puddles. I went and got a bag of mosquito dunks, it has some kind of larva killing bacteria in it so its supposed to be safe for animals and such. Threw some in the puddles and made a few kill buckets with it in there too.

The theory is that it kills off the larva, meaning less mosquitoes. I'll keep an eye on those buckets and update with results. I'm also going to get a thermo cell station to repel the survivors
