2.5" lift, all new chinese light plastics, led lights here and there... want to make a daily "overlander" modeled after "overland under budget"..
Its difficult to imagine my collections being divided up and wasted away..ive invested so much time and money.
Out of all my family theres very little thats been passed on and kept. As the first born male child between my dad and all his brothers, i recieved great gandpas police revolver. Its a s&w .38spl. I recieved his ticket book also...funny enough the uncle i recived it from could not locate his badge...we think we know what happend to it tho. Great gandpa was a memphis officer, his last ticket was to a city bus for speeding lol

With no heirs and no boys in the family with my last name, ive thought of contacting memphis police and giving it back...but im conflicted over this tho.. not sure what to do here at this point. I just dont want it to end up in the pawn shop.

I view myself as a curator of these past tech items.

From a pragmatic point of view these Wisconsins are heavy, balky, loud, expensive to repair and consume volumes of fuel. On the other hand they are a cast iron example of quality manufacturing. They were a premium engine in their day, a Wisconsin was never found on a cheap machine. Sure their practical day is long past but we can still appreciate the quality and care that went into building them.

I shuffle them around the garage, daydream of "fixing them up", perhaps tinker idly a bit. Progress doesn't matter as much as preservation to me I guess.

As long as I endure so will they, if I can spark an interest in a few folks along the way all the better.

Friends of mine did that back in the seventies!

No doubt they have moved on but that does seem a option I would enjoy .

But for the Sharks I stay at least 50 miles from the ocean after Reading Moby Dick in 5th grade and then the Movie Jaws .

I read....but not into most popular stuff. Mostly old manuals and instructional stuff. I do get into some scifi but havnt in a long time. I used to collect hot rod magazines and would read those over and over.
I will admit i do like to watch movies...and we do have one tv channel that we pick up in the winter. Its called me tv and only shows old stuff from mash to green acres...oh and clissic cartoons in the morning.

Over the past 20 years or so I have talked to several Younger people about about willing them everything I have none of them show any interest what so ever.

I have no family a few older cousins I have not heard from in years if they still live.

Some young person that Loved welding or wrenching would be set for life. Toyota 4x4`s even more so.

I just dont get it...even people my age, im 43, seem to be consumed with bs... ive always been into old stuff...and crafts for that matter, like leather working. When i was big into cars i was teaching myself pin striping which kind of turned to lettering and sign painting.
Im sorry ur alone like that...im an introvert and dont really have any friends(i do have friendlys) but noone close other than some family and my wife. There is this kid here(17)...who reminds me of myself a bit tho. Hes into a lot of the stuff i am. We know his parents, they own the little store not far from us. We've invited them over but nothing has fruited yet.. this past summer the kid showed me his new truck, a 70s dodge 1 ton dually..he was proud. Seeing that hes into it i told him to swing by and check out my stash of dodges and pick some parts if he needs...havnt seen him yet.
Sorry about the paragragh structure there.. was kind of just typing my thoughts.. to which ill add my trapping mentor. When i started trapping a friend of my dad set me up with a guy he called magoo. I called this magoo and he went straight to business..he was suprised he ever got the call, his own 3 boys never had interest in hunting activities. We met at the start of his line. Hes an old biker and i was put off by his appearance..scary lookin dude. We ended up spending the season together running traps, was a good time and i learned most of what i know from him. At the end of the season he suprised me with all his traps but a handful he kept. I was shocked to say the least.. i tried to tell him how thankful i was to which he responded with "no need for any thanks, it was a good year"..

Thanks for that look into the past Rusty. I don't have any plates that old but I've got a couple crusty rusty red from nature. I do enjoy the decorative value and the functionality of those Royce Motometers. On those brass era cars I see headlights, then motometer as its coming to me. Those might look good as a display piece on the wall.

Yall fire that shop radio up and get with it. I didnt realize Crystal Gayle was Loretta Lynn's sister. That was a little before my time.

Headed to Mecum Car Auction Saturday with my old man for his birthday. The prospect of muscle cars, fresh neon signs and cheap pizza has me almost giddy with excitement.

How things are written is never a problem!

My very best helper was young His parents picked up and moved to North Carolina He has already been through 4 years of college . Working as a entry level engineer .

Since then no one, these Young People just don`t work.

I was lucky I had a great Mentor that got me started in the mechanical welding areas then I was lucky I feel in with a older group of Mill Wrights I was the kid I worked hard and sucked up skills like a sponge !!

    Never looked back.

All it takes is 'H5N1 season' could be broadcasted and the price of eggs would be sky rocketing!

I feel you but I don't plan to fold myself giving up.
Like many of you out there, I don't watch or listen to the main stream media in the last few years; but I still listen to Podcast from Steve Bannon's War Room, The Great America Show of Lou Dobbs, Human Event Daily...to upbeat my spirit.
