Probably close to 140 miles walked on these during this trip alone. The plastic loop that the strap goes thru has a short tab that was sewn into the sandal, the stitches let go several days ago. I brought contact cement this trip, because I had to buy some to fix shoes last trip. I glued it, and it held until yesterday, when it started slipping out a bit. I think the heat got to it. Punched a couple of holes and ran a wire tie thru it, that was enough to help the glue out. I always travel with a few basics to try and keep out of trouble.

I fully believe that if women ever figure out what goes through a man's mind in a typical day, they will have all positions of power from town council to president of the united states of murica.
    Sports.
    Food.
    Boobies.
    Repeat.
And I fully admit that when watching sports, I am interested until I see a beautiful woman, then I am fully interested until I smell steaks on the grille, until I see a game on TV and the cycle continues.
Work and other stuff pop in and out to fill the day.
I do pay attention in church and mentally smack myself 100 times to keep on the subject.
    I am very simple though.

I do have a question for all the men out here...
    How do you concentrate?
    How do you develop patience?
    Using examples:
How do you have the patience to install a new HVAC, or paint an entire interior, or sit in a tree stand for six hours?
Or sit in a boat all day with no nibbles?

Even worse... how do you have the patience to complete a task when you know it will take 12 hours of fully vested concentration? This is from welding to computer programming.

    And the hardest of all...
How do you develop the patience to hear the same question a dozen times, even though you have given the answer 11 times.
I know how I do it and there are multiple right answers. Curious how you guys do it.

I wish, I've been looking. In a lot of ways, Costa Rica is not an inexpensive country, and selection isn't that great. I have a pair in my Amazon cart, but these will get me home.

While funny and a short term solution, not so acceptable for long term real life. Let's hear the real answers. C'mon men, open up. How do you do it? I will answer how I did it tomorrow in a long long post.

"How do you have the patience to install a new HVAC, or paint an entire interior"

It is just work, get started & keep at it. It doesn't matter if you enjoy the job or not.

"or sit in a tree stand for six hours?
Or sit in a boat all day with no nibbles?"

Doesn't apply to me, I would fall asleep. :notsure:

"how do you have the patience to complete a task when you know it will take 12 hours of fully vested concentration?"

Same as above - it is just work with nobody else to do - so get at it.

"How do you develop the patience to hear the same question a dozen times, even though you have given the answer 11 times."

    My former employers were:
    cheap
    suspicious and distrustful of employees
    short sighted
    didn't learn from previous mistakes
    out of touch
thought they were always the smartest people in the room.

Working there was a "mind over matter" situation as in:

I don't mind because it really doesn't matter.

I do my due diligence to inform you of potential issues, you choose to ignore me (and other staff members) even though I spend about 60 hours per week on the production floor versus the zero you spend there.

If you people want to pay me to do dumb things that is fine as long as it isn't illegal, immoral or dangerous.

So how do you differentiate between a task like you describe or a family matter where patience and calmness is needed? Is there a difference? Or do you approach the problem the same way...
    This is a tough question.

I dunno. I make it a priority or i dont. I get distracted easily. But depending on what it is i make it priority.

Fishing/hunting is about time/perserverance. Sometimes stuff just falls into place and you get a deer right away. Or catch fish right away. Sometimes you dont catch or shoot anything. But one thing is certain you cant shoot something or catch something if you dont go.

Some things i have zero patience. Each situation is different, as is tasks. Lots of variables in your questions.

    A good question.

My primary focus was plant services: chill water, hot water, steam, compressed air, HVAC, electricity, gas, etc.

My approach to these services was "plant services never go down".

Years of making sure that happened helped me cultivate vigilance, the ability to think on my feet and a problem solving calmness.

    Work situations are pretty simple:
Problem: the machine is on fire
Solution 1: put the fire out
    Solution 2: fix the machine
    Goal: get back to work

I approach life situations the same way, "I'm the capable one" - just another job to do, I don't need to enjoy it, just get it done.
