The brake shoes have strong springs to retract them away from the drums, they also hold the wheel cylinder pistons in.

When you remove all the parts the brake fluid can force the pistons out dumping the brake fluid on the ground.

Sometimes just by sitting there - other times if some bonehead pushes the brake pedal... :annoyed:

Here is the tool in use:

Thanks, good info. For what it's worth I have already tried a couple of the options given before going nuclear with the pesticide. I don't see any more bugs after inspecting today, but I doubt I got all of them. The eggs and larva are really small.

I'm planning on going from containers to raised beds next year so I'm trying to work out the kinks.

You know someone who lives in North Carolina without listing it just from the Food Lion brand stuff. They all disappeared from here besides one and the large distribution center a couple towns over.

Their stores used to be everywhere around here, but all have pretty much disappeared. Most were bought out by Save-A-Lot which in turn closed most or Martin's/Giant bought them out. There's still the large distribution warehouse in Greencastle, PA (35 min form here) and one store 15 minutes over the mountain in Mercersburg, PA. We like to swing in there occasionally; it's cheaper than the Giant we have in town, but with gas prices the way they are it's a wash...

My shipping woes continue, I’d like to add DHL to the FedEx and post office list. Why would DHL give it to the post office, have they not heard??? It was ordered the 11th and in stock :annoyed:

That is my job, to help keep past tech from being forgotten. ;)

You don't need to use these, especially when doing the rear brakes on a Tacoma for example as it is a pretty quick job.

On this old Ford with drum front brakes the job takes a lot longer as the parts are dirtier, the front does most of the work and all that brake dust stays in the drum, you also have to clean and repack the wheel bearings. If I am leaving the brakes stripped overnight or going to lunch I put the clamps on.

    A thing or two...
Looks like a worn out squeeze clamp.

On the matter of the poll, I don't think I've ever had poison ivy/oak. I've had chiggers a few times since moving to Arkansas and had them a few times growing up in TX.
