New member, with a recently purchased 2nd gen (2007) Taco. LOVE THE TRUCK! The shifter light isn't working so I replaced the bulb. Every other dash or exterior light works, but this one still doesn't. Any of you Taco pros out there have any tips or info on tracing this harness back to a connector or any other idea on what could be the ish? TIA!

Yes this is the light. Thanks for the details on getting to it. Way better than the YouTube video I found. I will check the voltage at the green wire, and the ground on the G/W one. And yes, the Hazard button lights up.

The headlights need to on when checking for power.
Technically, it’s the tail light or portion of the switch, but just turn the head lights on.
It’s easier to explain it that way.

I replaced a running light bulb on my trailer once.
It didn’t work AFTER replacing. Took me a good 15 mins. to figure out I didn’t have the lights turned on.
Lol, just one of those days.

Tested the socket, with the HL on (LOL). No voltage at the socket. The wires to the socket itself are both green w/gray (see IMG_1). Then I see a white connector to the rear of the shifter with a green and a green/white wire going to it (?). I also see an empty white connector attached to the bottom of the cavity (see IMG_2). So the green & green/white wires you mentioned are connected to anything.

Try the voltage test with plug in pic #2.
Also can you get a pic of the front of the plug in pic #2?

It looks like the plug is not hooked up?
If the wires are connected to pins 4(Green) and 8 (G/W)
Then that should be the right connector for the light.

I have to run and get a tree cut while the weather is good.
@Jimmyh If you see this, do you care to help him out.
I’m pretty sure the connection is not hooked up.

    I’ll check back later tonight.

FIXED!!! Tested the plug in IMG_1 and got 12VDC as expected based on previous comments. Took another picture inside the cavity of the shifter and found the jack shown in IMG_3 (see attached). Connected it and VOILA! The light now works. Thanks all for your input. #lovemytaco

Did you get your tree cut?

Yes, it’s down. Just have to clean up limbs/leaves.
Wish I could have waited until winter.
The leaves add up quick and make clean up take longer.
But it’s free Oak. So you take it When you get it.

Hey TNShooter, I know this was posted last year, but I'm having a similar problem. My shifter light is out, I have changed the bulb and checked for power at the socket. No power at the socket. I have also chased the plug and everything is connected and the wires in good condition.
All my other dash lights work, *except* my hazard button. You asked about it before, so I was curious if you may have an idea what's going on.
The only other thing I found to be not working is the dimmer switch for my dash lights.
I have checked all the fuses and I believe they're ok.
    Do you have any ideas?
