selling my truck, reasonable asking price assistance

I am going to be selling my truck in the next week or so. I have no idea where to begin with coming up with a fair asking price. Located in Colorado

Nice mods - but they won't matter to most buyers.

Itemize the cost of your mods (parts only, no labor) - cut that figure in half and add to regular book value. That's probably the best you'll do.

As others have said, mods don't increase value. Look up the kbb value and start there.

 

IIRC 'Texas Edition' is a dealer thing, not a Toyota thing.

As a buyer, why would I care? Is there something spiffy included that no one else can get, outside of silly badges?

@TaterHarry has it nailed. 50% on parts on top of the actual vehicle.

It's now a niche market truck. If you have the OE parts to go with it, that will be attractive to some folks too.

The best way to recoup the money you put into the vehicle is to take it back to stock and sell it that way, and then sell the parts.

 

You will learn that your chosen parts that you installed will suddenly not be suited for person who is interested. Even if he likes what you installed you will not know it. He wants to get your truck for cheapest price possible. He will feel that you have abused the truck.

Return to stock an sale as is. Then, sale parts.

? Not even close, that truck would get $24-26k in a heartbeat.

 

If possible this is the best option. Banks won't pay a dime for mods on a loan so your buyer would have to come up with the difference in the down payment.

Remove all mod and resell them later. The truck is probably worth about $25k.... maybe get another $1k from selling the mods.

 

Here in my area I'd say 26-28k. '12-'15 4x4 Double Cabs fetch a premium around here. Hell a stealership would ask 32k for that truck.

 

Investing in photography gear/business and to travel. Just going to get a cheap 4x4 of sorts for a beater and invest the rest.

Ha no partout either, unless someone with stock head lights and some cash wants to trade for retrofits (Shrouds popped off so you would need to bake them open and remount still)

 

I'd say keep it the way it is, do private party, keep the price on the higher side, wait for offers/counter offers.
Never know someone might want a Tacoma with those mods, but just doesn't have time or knowledge to install them...

 

This,you wont get a single dime for any of the add-ons you did.$24,000 is about what you will make with or without the add-ons.
