I think I'd have to look at the gx with my own eyes.

Odd trade off, the 04 will feel like a dinosaur compared to the tacoma.

    I'd rather have a newer GX460 personally

The 470 is more truck like in the way it accelerates. The 460 just doesn’t have much going on in the power band down low. Both are pretty dated as far as newer cars go. The infotainment in the 460 is decades old.

I’ve had most of the Lexus SUVs (RX, GX, and LX) more than a few times each. The GX has always been my favorite of the three. I’d still vote alongside everyone else that you’ve talked to on this. Heck no!

I wouldnt. do you know what kind of suspension is on the Lexus. it could be just a spacer lift. and the mods are not worth the $13k that they are asking on top.

plus like the previous person said above, the GX will feel super dated compared to the Tacoma. Seats are leather and probably will wear quickly. No phone Bluetooth for audio. IDK. its a little to much for an old lexus

I went from a GX470 to the Tacoma and wouldn't go back. I would like to have that engine though.

Also, I know that covid has changed a lot of things but I sold my 04 GX 2 years ago with 126k on it, suspension and 32s for 11k. 23k seems way high

Love the 4.7 v8 , wish they would have put it in the 3rd generation, but they don't build it anymore as far as I know

You'd have to 10x all the "my MPG sucks" threads in this forum though...

Nope, unless you need/want the cash or don’t want/need the Tacoma.

my wife has a GX460 and I prefer to drive my Tacoma.

    Agree 100%

    sold my 2006 GX470 (https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/coops-gx470.904659/) 220k miles a year ago for $14k to get a pickup, bought a Tacoma.

I enjoyed my GX470, but I like driving the Tacoma more, I also like the 4-5mpg better fuel efficiency I get. I don’t like all the stuff on the Tacoma that controls your driving, like the cruise, or that it takes a tuner to increase the voltage output for an AGM battery and all the beeping. My wife’s 2015 GX460 is leaps above the GX470 in my opinion, but that’s me.
