When I took my truck in for the 5k mile service I asked the service advisor if he could turn off the seat belt warning bell. He told me he couldn’t but Toyota was offering free seat belt extenders for people who needed them and I could use that to bypass the warning bell. Just leave the belt extender plugged in. The extender comes in different lengths, I ordered the shortest, 6 inches. Just thought I would pass this on if anyone had a interest.

I've done that in some other vehicles including my 2009 Taco, but for my 2019 TRD, I just used Carista and turned it off myself. It let me change some other stuff too like how the doors lock with the fob, etc.

Did the same exact thing when I took mine in for the 5K service. I asked 2 different service advisors about turning the seat belt chime off, both told me not a chance.

I was outside having a smoke when the service worker pulled my truck around. As we were walking back inside, I told him I wish they could have turned the chime off. He said no problem, walked back to my truck, drove it back inside and brought it back out around 5 minuets later...minus the chime.

I asked my dealer once and they turned it off no questions asked, same time they limo tinted my rear windows. Fwiw, I still buckle up unless I'm off road and the belt misbehaves

I wear mine too, but if I'm at a fast food drive thru and take the belt off to get my wallet out of my pocket, the chime can be a bitch. Driving down the beach which has a 10 MPH speed limit is about the only time I don't wear mine.

Before I had the chime shut off I did learn if driving down the beach, if I stopped and put the truck in park then back in drive the chime stopped.

Here is a thought for you: If the seatbelt is NOT plugged in, the airbags will not deploy since there is "nobody" in the seat. Turning OFF the chime will only give you quiet but not safety.
I have used for a long time a dummy plug in the seat belt like mentioned before. In this way there is not icon on the dash, no chime and bags will deploy.

I'm pretty sure the driver airbag is going to blow regardless. Does anyone want to test this theory?

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
They can disable the chime under the "settings" tab in the Techstream

huh...I assumed the truck knew someone was in the seat by weight cause I get the dash light when my giant girlfriend isn't buckled in. Also, the airbag light on the dash used to say off when my daughter was sitting there but now shes gotten bigger it says airbag on....wonder if I've been thinkin about this wrong

U don't want the airbag to go off if you're not buckled in. It'd blow your head off

Some dealerships won't do it for liability. So the service advisors say they can't. I did mine with Carista.

I wear my seatbelt, sometimes when I am during short stops between stores I don’t want the dash icon and chime going off. I know the safety issues and still my choice.
