    Hey all,

When I turn my steering wheel to fully lock to either side (right or left), there's a screeching sound coming from the engine area, and it immediately goes away if I stop holding the steering wheel in the locked turn position.

At first I thought the wheels were somehow rubbing even though its all stock but this happens when parked as well. Not really sure what it is, the axles or cv joints maybe?

    Stock. EZ pass.Dump pass.Inspection sticker.Convict printed lic.plates.FG cap.
The PS pump does that at full lock.
    Nothing to be concerned about.

Oh really? Thats great if so. Saves me the hassle of trying to narrow it down and replace a faulty part. I didn't have power steering on my previous cars except for one so I am not too familiar with typical noises they make.

Check your power steering drive belt tension. I had the same screeching sound at the end of the steering wheel full lock-to-lock in my '97 Tacoma. I tightened my drive belt and at the same time flushed and changed my power steering fluid. The screeching sound is now gone.

I never go full-lock when needing a tight turn as a rule. I always hit full-lock then back off a couple inches because that last couple inces is the same thing as full lock. My Mom always did full-lock and it grated on my nerves as a kid:anonymous:
