Scratches on window of new 2023 OR

I have had this truck for less than two weeks and just saw today that it has the relatively large scratch on the back driver side window. There’s a ton of smaller ones running alongside it as well that the camera can’t pick up. There’s also what’s best described as horizontal smudging that runs in the same path pretty much from top to bottom of the window. This has to be a mechanical issue that occurs from rolling the window up and down right? Should I just take it straight to the dealership? Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Take it to dealer. Can't see it in pics. First I have read about it.

 

Probably from the cocaine razor blade they used to remove the window sticker.

 

Go to dealer. Then update us. Unacceptable

Maybe sand and or grit from the transport?

 

Will likely be going to the dealership ASAP. This seems like a Toyota problem but I’m always pessimistic when going to dealerships. I had a Kia before this and they never took responsibility for anything when I had issues.

 

blemishes are tough unless your dealer wants to help. Many will tell you it wasn't that way on pickup. But, still try and get in there quick, call in the morning.

Get some polishing compound, deal with it and move on.

 

did the dealer tint the windows? tint person probably went crazy with the knife.

 

If you can feel it with your fingernail, you are not polishing the scratch out of glass, (or paint, for that matter). Ski

From the outside? I find that to be very bizarre. Most glass coatings are on the inside, and its the film coat that scratches easily. Glass is not easy to scratch.

 

it's probably from the microfiber rags they use to clean it. i thought mine had a bunch of microscratches but it was just fibers embedded in the glass from the microfiber rags i was using. try clay bar for cleaning up the glass and vinegar. use paper towels, not microfibers.

 

the point was “move on”…

 

people wearing rings, watches and other objects scratching the outside of the glass. or heavy debris in wash rack spinning brushes, or drying towels. glass is soft, and scratches pretty easily. I am highly doubting the dealer will do anything. it is possible toyota may warranty the glass but, still doubtful. all you can do is check in to it, then move on. Ski

 

Most of that is unlikely but not impossible.

The only common objects capable of scratching sheet glass are diamonds, a hardened chromium drill bit, and maaaaybe quartz if the pressure is right. Stainless and jewelry grade alloys do not scratch glass. Most sand and gravel, despite containing quartz, also does not scratch. It has to be pressed and vigorously rubbed. Most of those you wouldn't see without also seeing paint/body damage.
