I purchased a 2017 Entune Plus HU from a member. I installed Scout GPS without following any instructions, maybe I got lucky. I then noticed the previous owner’s phones saved in Bluetooth settings. I deleted the phones then decided to press "Delete Personal Data". I really regret doing that; I lost Scout GPS and cannot get it to download again. The following info is from the manufacturer website:

    Fix
    - The phone needs to be checked for proper setup - installation

Here is the following trouble shooting steps to try

    1. Uninstall Scout GPS Link from device

    2. Un-pair device from Blue Tooth of Head Unit

    3. Power phone off/on

    4. Install / Download Scout GPS Link on device

    5. Pair Device to Head Unit via Blue Tooth

    6. Power car off

    7. Open Scout GPS Link on device

    8. Complete initial set up process

    9. Enable Location Services (if they are disabled)

    10. Make sure Mobile data is enabled

    11. Turn car back on

    12. Select APPS A message should appear shortly after, prompting to download an Update in order to use navigation. Start the update / download and allow it to complete.

Getting Support for Entune Audio Plus and Scout GPS Link

Toyota Motor North America would like their Entune technical support specialists to speak with you first.

They can perform in-depth troubleshooting with Scout GPS Link while it is connected to the Toyota Entune Audio Plus head unit in your vehicle. If they determine a problem is being caused by the Scout GPS Link mobile app, they will then refer you to us.

When you call Toyota customer service, you should ask to speak with an Entune technical support specialist and emphasize that you need help with your Entune Audio Plus head unit and Scout GPS Link.

I still have not got Scout GPS to download after MANY attempts.
I contacted Toyota Entune Tech Support today, no change in status. They had the local dealership contact me; Hawaii dealer said Scout GPS Link is not supported in Hawaii. It is possible the unit thought it was still in Missouri and downloaded/installed Scout GPS (even though it was in Hawaii) but will not now that it was cleared of original data. I am still awaiting word from Hawaii dealership (they are contacting Toyota USA). This is still ongoing.

    Lesson Learned thus far:
Do not "Delete Personal Data" if radio transferred from CONUS

You must have it connected USB to get 3D driving maps, like we're used to with Google Maps; Bluetooth can't send info fast enough so it's disabled to turn directions only without USB connection.

I'm sure most people have given up on Scout GPS Link. Even without the 3D moving maps, I still consider it a helpful feature for the safety of it on the head unit (HU).

Anyway, for iPhone users, I believe I have figured out how to get it working consistently, at this time... After a lot of dickering around with it out of frustration, it seems to me that something doesn't always initialize correctly when the phone app starts up. Instead of deleting and reinstalling the app, the following procedure has been working for me when the app isn't displaying correctly/working on the HU:

    1. Go to the main screen on the HU
    2. QUIT the app on the phone using the app switcher. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330)
    3. Start Scout GPS Link on the HU
    4. Start the companion app on your phone.
    a. If the phone app goes straight to the black screen with the connection icons, quit it and start it again.
    b. If the phone app goes to the app title screen — it'll display the app logo, a safety warning, and copyright info — then it should transition to the black connection screen and successfully connect to the HU in 10, 15 seconds or so.
I've been doing it this way for the past week and it has been connecting consistently. It also seems as long as the phone app is kept open in the background, it'll connect to the HU on subsequent engine starts.

If they can get the maps to display on a USB connection with iOS 11.x and add in the options to configure your route (avoid tolls, certain roads, etc.), it actually wouldn't be so bad and would be on par with most other systems.

    UPDATE:

I'm in CONUS now, downloaded and performing as advertised.

I have tried now multiple times myself. I have made sure Toyota app is up first. When I attempt to download Scout App, I get to the screen that states my phone is not connected. It then directs me back to the Toyota which states phone is connected via Bluetooth. I'm highly confused.
