if you're looking at the bottom side of the RJ45 opposite of the Clip side.

why? i've done thousands of rj45's. my favorite part was showing new guys how to do it.

i could do it in my sleep, so they'd all get frustrated that it took me less than a minute to pull the jacket, straighten, sort, clean up ends, and push into the jack. and then they'd sit there for the next 15 minutes getting angrier and angrier with the skill it takes to pull the jacket and straighten the wires...

Where I worked there was a rolling toolbox filled with about a billion crimping tools. And I remember one year preparing for an underground nuclear test where it was endless 60 pin circular connectors for months.

i once spent a month soldering and heat-shrinking the circular mil-spec locking connectors for an extreme temp testing rig at a railroad brake facility. it had to withstand -50 degrees, all the way to 300 degrees. apparently, russian trains are ran through blast furnaces as a standard de-icing procedure, so their test rig was set up for those extremes. it's easy to find cold weather cable, and hot weather cable, but it was extremely specialty to find cable that was designed for both extremes.
