I like the dedicated screen, I think I'd get a little annoyed if every time I wanted info I had to look for it on my phone. I like that constant data.
Here s how I mounted mine using the Taco Garage DDM.

My only gripes are the size and the plug out the back. Happy with everything else. There is no oil temp gauge as far as I can find, just pressure.

The SG3 uses a standard RJ45 Ethernet connector, per their tech support person.
I have not yet looked, but I am certain somebody makes a 90-degree RJ45 extension cable.

CarPlay eliminates the need to look at the phone, as the OBD Fusion app plays in the phone, but displays on the dashboard big screen through CarPlay.

I figure the CarPlay USB cable that connects the iPhone to the truck also provides low level charging.
What I don't know: does the phone run hot as a consequence.

Phone does not run hot in pocket when using wireless CarPlay. I have never noticed it. Battery draw doesn't affect daily battery usage to a noticeable degree. I drive a lot in town and have no batt probs while only charging phone overnight. If I'm driving out of town farther than a couple hours I'll plug the phone in. Otherwise it doesn't affect daily battery usage on my iPhone11 which has a 3 year old battery.

On the Ultra Gauge if you wanted any of the custom gauges, you'd have to get the MX version which is $110 regular, reduced currently to $94. The Ultra Gauge I do not believe was developed to compete with the ScanGauge III, but the earlier versions with the BAD displays. Perhaps ScanGuage had to develop a good (visually) product to compete with Ultra Gauge? It seems they have accomplished that goal.

At the time I bought my Ultra Gauge unit in the first quarter of 2021 the price was $91. There have been no problems with the unit.

The business is as far as I could tell is a one-man operation who only takes tech calls by computer, his own computer software system (I believe) which sucks. There is not much innovation, and he does not have the capabilities to hack the newer vehicle codes. So, if it is not offered upon purchase, it most likely will not be offered.

My Veepeak BLE 4+ arrived today and connected successfully with my 2023 Tacoma.

It will NOT connect to my daughter’s 2005 Prius which has a dead main drive battery.

I think I saw something about hybrids needing a different scanner. If yes, this pushes the cost of ODB Fusion much higher and makes it less competitive price wise with SG3

I don't know anything about Prius. If the main batt is dead, does the OBD port have power? A quick search indicates Carista works with Prius via the OBD port [1].

Prius has a regular 12v battery to power the ODB port.

Carista is an app not a transmitter so it must depend on having one that is hybrid compatible. I disappointed that Veepeak fails to mention their scanner fails to connect with hybrids. Ditto for OBD Fusion not mentioning this either.

The Dr Prius site has reviews of many scanners and calls out the good and the junk. The writer gives good marks to the Veepeak.

Never worked on a Prius but I can recommend the $44 Carista transmitter linked from Amazon above for 1st Gen & 3rd Gen Tacoma plus my g35 and Murano.

Honestly it sounds to me like you may have bigger problems with the Prius but that is obviously based on extremely limited info.

Does your Prius OBD port power up your transmitter? Check the OBD socket for viable +12V power?

    Yes.

I believe the failure to connect is in OBD Fusion.
After the fact, I did grab the freeware "DrPrius" app which the reviewer says works correctly with my Veepeak transmitter.

Once my daughter gets the Prius back from the shop (again), I will test it again.

I was not anticipating having a very difficult time in finding the correct codes to use for the SCIII! Haha!

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Some more stuff for scangauge 3. I got this from their tech support.

The next firmware update will have it as a Auto Scan XGauge. For right now you are able to manually enter it. Below are the XGauge codes for misfire. Please let us know how they work for you.

Yes, but the one I bought in 2007 for my second Gen had to be sent back for a software update for a nominal charge before I could read trans temps in my Gen 3. I was a bit annoyed until the Canadian Scangauge dealer emailed me and said he thought my screen and electronics boards were looking a bit shabby after 14 years in my 2nd Gen and replaced both at no additional charge. Other than outside case, I received a new Scangauge II for the cost of a software upgrade.

That is what I call great customer service.

There is no oil pressure sensor, except the lower pressure switch. 2nd gen does not have it either.
