I got the Scan Gauge 3. I like the unit and touch screen a lot. There a few things that make me want to return it.

    - It won't read my ABS wheel speed sensor code C1239 that turns on the break light. (I'm working on getting this light off)

    - It wont read my ABS code C0273 that turns my ABS light on. (I pulled the ABS#1 Fuse cause it was malfunctioning)

    - It wont read my Airbag code B1801 and B1811 that turns on the airbag light. (This is the next problem I need to tackle)

    - It wont read TPMS sensors C2122 and C2124 that flashes on the TPMS light on and off. (This doesn't come on very often but did on my test drive)

I was hoping I could use this device to clear the Brake light and TPMS.

I found the unit didn't save my changes to my Gauge's. for example on page one if I set it to Battery Voltage, The next time I started the truck it's back to the default trip setting and not Battery Voltage. This could be my fault but I couldn't find the answer to saving your gauges. I did unplug the unit cause I don't drive it but weekly so I didn't want to drain the battery.

Does anyone have similar experiences with this product?

Readers for air bags, ABS, etc can be quite expensive. You can try searching online for PC apps and cables that might do it. “ Not sure” I'm hoping somebody has come up with one by now. Last time I was looking for an ABS code reader for an OBD-II car it was ugly

I can't help with the code part, but it should store your settings. I haven't lost any settings after disconnecting for ~20 minutes to reprogram my TPMS stuff, but the manual also states:

"The ScanGauge uses a type of memory that doesn’t require batteries or a source of power to maintain settings. This means that your settings will not be lost if you disconnect the vehicle battery or disconnect the ScanGauge."

I'd reach out to them and explain the issues you're having, it's possible that you've gotten a bad unit.

I bought an Xtool D8 that I really like that'll read and clear all my codes.

It's so tough to tell if a scanner will work for an intended use without just buying it and trying it. I purchased it online thru Autozone. They gave me an actual store receipt in the box. I think I can return it to a store so it wasn't a bad option to see if it did what I wanted it to. I'm disappointed it doesn't tell me those codes even without being able to clear them. I'm not towing much so I don't think I really need to monitor the Trans temp but it wouldn't be bad to have anyway. I mostly wanted to see what the break light code is when it comes on right away and I thought this product might be perfect.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, having pulled the ABS fuse, the Wheel Speed Codes shouldn't cause any malfunctions cause the ABS can't engage anyway.... It's just that good old hydraulic brake design I grew up driving....I'm fine with that considering the ABS is malfunctioning.

I'm gonna try the tool again today and see what I think. Thanks for the feedback.

I ended up returning the unit to Autozone.
