Replacing the whole thing for them, shouldn’t be a problem. Trying to hide a crack in glass, not many people can do that

Safelite is a good service company. New wind screen is about all I can settle for.

This is going to depend on your local shop and the tech they send. I always try to speak to the manager if I'm worried about it and feel them out on how they handle my concerns.

I also think they do a better job if you let them do it at the shop rather than mobile. Less chance of weather issues, environmental contamination, techs have better access to tools, etc.

My windshield was replaced by Safelite in the summer of 2019. I did have to take it to one of their service centers as they needed to transfer my Safety Sense camera and align it. The entire process probably took about an hour. Very professional service and install. No problems whatsoever with the new windshield. It was covered by my insurance minus a $50 deductible. Based on this, and previous work repairing and replacing various windshields on vehicles I’ve owned over the years, I highly recommend using Safelite.

I think you have unrealistic expectations about crack repair.

It's ALL about the tech doing the work. I haven't been very impressed with the one's doing the work for the company I work for. Nothing like finding footprints on the dash and the Niagara falls pouring around the seal when it rains even after the 2nd time they ''supposedly'' fixed it.

I had one done in my Land Cruiser by a local guy [since retired] and honestly, it was better then before he worked on it, he touched up some light surface rust spots under the seal, treated and coated it and then installed the new glass. Absolutely 100% professional, never went to another place when he was open.

Not in our parts, I would not let them touch my vehicles. We have a great company and they do all the dealership work. I had mine replaced with a factory windshield a year ago under warranty. I had bubbles in the dark shaded areas of the glass. I swear I think the new windshield is way tuffet than the original glass.

Seeing your truck is brand new
Depending on your ins you can request a factory windshield replacement
I Have Allstate and if the vehicle is less than 3 years old a factory oem windshield can be requested

They repaired my windshield back in May I believe it was. Had a big chip that was cracking left and right. Lines were over an inch both sides. Can still see that cracks in certain light, but it hasn’t grown any.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Agree with chstaco.
Much depends on your insurance company's criteria for repair vs replacement.
Mine would cover replacement for a small crack if its length exceeded some magic number. It did.
I was concerned about aftermarket 'cuz that was what the insurance company offered. However, aftermarket windshields for my '06 Taco were not available.
It was replaced with an OEM windshield and I haven't I a lick of trouble with it. Did not cost me anything more than my time hanging at the shop.
However, I didn't have all of the tech stuff that could have been adversely affected by R&R the windshield, so it was a pretty simple job.
It was nice to have a sparkling clear windshield again.
BTW it was done by SafeLite.

When I got my truck new, Safelite replaced the Windshield cause I got a crack a week later and it came out perfect. Make sure when you call the insurance and ask for OEM glass. That is an option with Safelite and it doesn’t cost you anymore.

I used Safelite a couple of years ago on my work truck, it was okay but the glass looked 'wavy' on the sides. Bugged me for a while but I eventually got used to it.

Since then I've started using a local guy who's mobile to do rock chip repairs. Good dude, fair prices and does great work. Recently my GF needed a new windshield for her Highlander so I contacted Safelite for a quote, then just for comparison contacted my local guy who beat that price by ~$200! The glass he installed looks great and is guaranteed. Her Highlander doesn't have the Safety Sense cameras like our Taco's do, but when I asked if he can do those he said he can, he has the equipment and it only increases the cost by $100 or so.

Point being, if you're in a large urban area and aren't going through insurance, you can probably find someone or someplace to replace your glass for less $$ then Safelite.

I recently got a crack on my windshield and it got really bad. I decided to replace it using my insurance (allstate). They decided to replace it with aftermarket and if I wanted OEM I would have to pay the difference. I tried to argue with them but they still went with the aftermarket windshield. Safelite said they didn't have an aftermarket windshield for my 2018 tacoma so they had to order OEM. Supposedly my 2018 tacoma OR had some special windshield were it had some sensors and what not, so it had to be replaced with OEM windshield. Sucks for Allstate but they ended up paying for an OEM windshield. My girlfriend has a 2017 yaris and she also had a crack, she decided to use the insurance (progressive) to replace it since it was free as part of her coverage. They sent her to safelite and they tried to install an aftermarket windshield. Again insurance wouldn't pay for OEM. After they installed the windshield the collision sensor kept blinking, they said the windshield couldn't be calibrated so they had to order an OEM windshield. She went back yesterday so she can get her OEM windshield put on and they cracked it in the process, so they're ordering a new one again. So far insurance has paid over $2,500 for trying to save money.

I've used them for years, never an issue and yes if you get a crack repaired it can show up even more but it's sealed and shouldn't spread after their repair.

I've had them do a repair at least 10x in the past 7/8 years and not once has it spread. :fingerscrossed:
