Anyone had a good experience with an alignment after a lift recently in Sacramento?

I'm not sure the Pepboys $99 is gonna cut it with adjustable UCAs. I'm concerned they might not know how to work on those.

Let me know if you've got a solid recommendation.

yeah, I just called S & H 4 Wheel Drive Service Center on Arden and they said they "send it out" for alignment. I asked "to whom," and they said they cannot disclose that. hmmm.... I'm not letting an unidentified entity take possession of my truck and work on it. That's just bad business and fishy.

I can't remember exactly, I wanna say like $150... I'd have to check my records to verify.

Most every alignment shop I've been to in LA won't touch the SPCs I have on my truck. All the chain store ones like Firestone and Pepboys, etc. do factory setting alignments and you're lucky if they'll even do custom numbers for you (I haven't found one that will).

I've only had luck with getting a good alignment by going to a local offroad garage/shop that does them, luckily down here the closest one is less than a mile from my house. Not exactly cheap at $140 but they do a great job, and they install SPCs on people's trucks all the time so they know how to work with them.

That being said, every time I've gone there they have not had to adjust my SPCs. They were able to get me the caster I wanted via the lowers while keeping the SPC ball joint in the normal setting which I think is ideal.

If you have a 4x4 shop/garage in your area that does alignments, that's where I'd go

HAHAHA! That's great. I gave them a more subtle response. I'm glad someone else finds it as fishy as I do.

Thats fishy as hell for sure...they probably have a deal with the local Firestone and just send them there. Then charge you double what Firestone would have so they both make money.

Elk Grove Tire and Brake did mine. 45 minutes @$80. Firestone tires recommended me. Knows their stuff. 3” lift all around 1996 Taco 4x4 with stock UCA, no issues.

Radial Tire in Elk Grove has always treated me well for alignments; didn't matter if it was lifted, lowered, or stock. Tell them what you have going on with your suspension (custom UCAs, etc), where you want it to be setup (custom caster, etc) and they've never said no. Usually no upcharge for custom settings unless it involves a fair bit of labor (adjusting coilovers, etc).

Hell, I even took one of my cars back after 4 months because I'd completely changed out the whole suspension and they redid it for free, even though I told them I'd messed with it and would gladly pay for it...

I no longer work at a shop/dealership, I no longer have access to alignment racks to do this myself. I'm super picky about who I'll let touch my vehicles, for the jobs I'm not equipped to do. Elk Grove Tire Pros is less than a block from my house, yet I wouldn't let them touch another vehicle of mine if they were the only shop open in the state. (not to be confused with Elk Grove Tire and Brake, mentioned above!)

Fake edit// I'd also avoid Elk Grove Toyotas service department. Tried to charge me double for an alignment just because I'd requested they use the '15 Pro factory specs, to match the new Pro shock kit I'd installed (truck was otherwise bone stock at this point). When I wouldn't play ball with the their "custom suspension" pricing, they did a 'toe n go' alignment after it sat on their lot for 3 days. Didn't even touch the LCAs, and the caster & camber was still off.

We have a 4Wheel parts here in Sac that charges ~$125 to do a 4 wheel alignment. As you know they also do installs of suspension, 3rd members, etc. I plan on giving them a try after all my stuff gets installed.

They'll do anything. They do lots of work for all the dealerships along Fulton Ave. Ferraris to Brodozers. One guy, I forget his name now, did some top hat bushing work on my old Old Man Emu coilovers and I hung out with him during it. Don't have time to tell all my stories right now, but just call them first to get a feel.
