So I am re-building my SA-12 Box. Looking to getting total cubic feet at 2.42. Less the port and speaker displacement, a total of 1.75 cubes, 28" of slot port with a 27.5 " port length after adjustment.

Today was used to pre-drill, measure, and prep before lining the MDF with a mixture of wood glue and water to seal the surface.

After the box is layered with sealant it will be primed for paint, and then placed in for taping and fiberglass.

The sub will not fit with out a fiberglass backing.

I plan on using a layer of painters tape over the rattle trap.

I will spray on glue to hold a fleece liner to fill the rear.

It looks good! However i think that you are going to have a hard time keeping that sub from hitting the back of your rear seats. I have 2 sd3 10s behind the seats and its fine, i tried to put 2 sa 10s behind there and they didnt fit without hitting the backs of the seats.

How do you create the seal against the back wall?

I see - I'm always curious to see how people fit normal subs behind the seats. I have the thin 13" JL, but aside from 40HZ to 50Hz, it rolls bass off a little too quickly. The thing claims to play to 20Hz, but it barely makes a tone. Thin subs, no matter what the claims, just don't cut it if you love your bass.

Freq response of a speaker doesnt mean they actually play down to that freq with authority. Look at the subs FS that will give you an indication of where the subs performance lies in the " response range "

That and your F3 will be much higher in a sealed alignment (compared to ported, horn-loaded, PR, etc). If you're missing 20 - 40 Hz, that's an entire octave!

I put some rattle trap down, tape, then fiberglass. I had a little rattle so filled the edges with great stuff.

Definitely moving some air. Flexing any panels yet? I halfway expect my SA10 to - if I can feed it enough power.

With the center brace and plenty of fiber glass, it is not flexing the box. The doors, windows, and steering wheel are moving. Plenty of lows and more of a punchy feel.

I took some longer bolts to replace the factory ones holding the rear seats and added washers to space the seats forward. Gives an extra half inch or so.

Does anyone know where I can buy a similar subwoofer enclosed box?

This is hands down the best enclosure I've seen in a double cab. Wish these were for sale. It's a little beyond my box building abilities.

Yeah this looks like it also requires you to seal your back wall with fiberglass, and then use more fiberglass to attach this box to it. That is the only way you can get a normal sized sub to fit, or at least that is the only way i personally have found so far.
I would just be afraid to tear up the surround hitting the back of the seats. These Sundowns have a lot of excursion so i personally would like a bit more room. haha.

Even with the seat spacers and removing the back panels it looks a little tight. I have 2 sa10s that i would have liked to install but i need another 1/2" - 3/4" more mount depth to get there, and i need a ported box.

did you build the box, then disassemble it again to attach it to the rear wall? And how hard was it to fiberglass that rear wall?

Im debating on ripping out the back seats of my truck and building a platform/sub box. This will give my dog more room in the back and allow for a ported box with 2 12s.

Of course i will not be jamming with the pup in the truck, and all this would happen after the truck is paid off and i have another DD. I already have 2 sa 10s in my possession but i am saving those for the new DD.
