Has anybody run this category of tire in winter weather. Looking at fireston weather grip for my 2013 2wd AC.

There are literally 1000s of All Season tires on the road.

FWIW, a Winter Only tire is made of "softer" rubber to enhance traction. This is why the Warranty mileage on a Winter tire is much shorter than on an All Season tire.

There may be some overlap but all weather are different than all season - they all have 3 peak mountain snow flake and generally more sipes. There aren’t too many all weathers on the market

AND, my two cents, look for a tire with full depth siping. Some are only partial depth and the characteristics of the tire change when you get down to half tread.
Again, my two cents, you want a good all season radial for mostly street driving, Michelin Defender. You want a good all terrain, Falken Wildpeak AT3W. There are a lot of other good tires on the market but those two would be my personal choice.
The Michelins are expensive but worth it. I had some Genera Grabbers a few years ago and they were great, but they only lasted about 36,000 miles.

I have the Nokian Rotiiva A/T in 265 70 17 and on there website they consider them to be all season even though they are rated as a 3 peak. Also on there website the Plus version is considered all weather and 3 peak. I've been happy with just the regular version but I still haven't drove them in the winter yet. This is the tire I thought was right for me but might not work for you. Everybody has there own preference and needs.

I run MICHELIN® Defender® LTX® M/S on my Tacoma. I live in 4 season country and they perform well in most conditions.

If you want excellent winter weather grip go with a dedicated winter snow tire. Nothing else will compare. Obviously more money running two different sets of tires but if you really want great traction in winter weather it’s the best way to go, especially since you are 2wd.

I was thinking about getting a tire with real similar tread design to the defender- Kuhmo crugen ht51- it’s has the 3pmsf severe snow rating as well.

Also considering this. But think I can probably get by with some all weathers in central VA- where we don’t get but maybe 2-3 snows a year. I agree though having true winters would be the best for winter weather- gonna put about 200# of sandbags in bed as well

I had Rotiivas on a previous truck and was seriously disappointed in their longevity. Despite rotating and keeping alignment in check, they wore quick and uneven. Hopefully you have a better experience. I've had better experiences with Bridgestone dueler A/T revos.

I have heard a few people say they wear quick sometimes. I've had mine on for a few months and getting close to my second oil change and they have just started wear off the 100% number on the wear markers. They have been pretty even wearing and I have done a chalk test on them so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I've also heard some people like the Continental Terraincontact a/t. I have no experience with them but they aren't 3 peak either.

Those are all great tires but not sure if any of them come in 215/70/15. I wanna stay with oem tire size so I can keep getting 24 mpg in city (I drive a fair bit for work). That’s my dilemma

I ran all weathers one year, they are good enough but if you see a lot of ice you need a dedicated winter set.

Firestones are fairly aggressive towards ice as far as all weathers go, they are a good choice.

Softer and features additional siping and can be directional.
