I'm having DTD install new wheels and tires next week. They said the price is the same for rubber or metal valve stems which was surprising. I figured metal was more expensive...?

Anyway... is there a preference, rubber or metal? I know that metal can break if offroading which I don't offroad at all.

Why not transfer your TPMS stems from your stock wheels to the new wheels? They might be quoting you for standard valve stems without TPMS, so if that's a feature you want to keep make sure to clarify what they're trying to sell you.

Would I need to pay for the dismount of the old tires and the removal and re-installation of the TPMS sensors? I'm not looking at my OEM set right now, but I believe they are silver. I don't want silver stems on my new bronze wheels. Black rubber or black metal.

DTD quoted me $51 per wheel for TPMS and valve.

It doesn't matter. Your TPMS system has metal valve stems and will require transfer over otherwise you will trigger your light to come on and it will stay on permanently until the issue is fixed.

If a shop is not competent enough to know a 2018 vehicle has metal valve stems and they will require transfer over, then I would consider walking the other way, otherwise they may cause you more trouble than it's worth.

So let me clarify...I'm going into this with the thought of keeping my OEM setup as a spare. Perhaps I should sell my OEM sport wheels and tires separately and reuse the OEM sensors. Do most people take this route rather than purchasing new sensors?

Often non tpms valves will say 'metal' but it is a cheap chrome sleeve over a old skool rubber stem

true tpms is an integrated metal valve assembly, all you need is new o-rings

anything else, ask DTD exactly what they are supplying

If I have the original stuff transferred over, I'm stuck with silver stems, correct?
