Iv been looking around and just curious if anyone has some how taken out their carpet floor and replaced it with one big floor mat.
I hate carpet in my truck and im itching to just take everything out and spray/roll bedliner on it. Simple and dont have to worry with getting anything "too" dirty.

Knew someone that did that in their Jeep. Whenever it got dirty he just rattlecanned another layer on. I suspect he might have lost a few brain cells on his daily commute.:D Two downsides if you go that route, 1) you will slightly increase cabin noise, and 2) on the rare instance if you scuff the floor, the only way to fix it is a respray.

The easiest route is to get floor liners. They cover up everything you see except for the part that rises up towards the center console. Cheaper, easier, and better looking IMO.

My first gen never had carpet in it the while time I owned it. Just the bare sheet metal. Always wanted to liner it but never did. I know they made rubber flooring for first gens to replace the carpet like they have in some models of Ford trucks, mostly in the work trucks. I haven't been able to find a company that makes them for the third gens yet.

I would'nt go as far as just haveing the bare floor on the 3rd gen, with this time off of work im seriously thinking of ways to get my lined. A buddy of mine used to have an old chevy with that flooring and it feels like the most convenient thing to have in a truck. Maybe ill get somthing going.

I think there is a rubber floor partnumber for second gen it should still fit for the most part

There is a thread on here about it I am interested myself as all my Ford work trucks have the rubber floor

Also LMC truck sells them for lots of newer model trucks I'm betting a ranger extended cab would be generically the correct dimensions and can be "cut" to fit

I had the vinyl flooring in my 08 Ram. Cheap as hell and quick to show damage if you got sand on your shoes (I took that truck to the beach a lot). I have no experience with the toyota version admittedly. I would still recommend mats or liners on top of a hard floor. Dirt is surprisingly abrasive, you want a sacrificial layer to rest those clodhoppers on. :D:hattip:

I have never understood the rubber floor liners. Why even have carpet if it will always be covered? I say bring back the rubber mat!

My dads FJ cruiser had the rubber floor. It was great because he lived right on the beach, so there was constantly sand in there. It vacuumed up super easy.

I think you can order a truck without carpet. When I was looking for my truck they were trying to divert one from another dealer and one showed up with a crazy configuration that had carpet delete. Needless to say they couldn't divert that one. I would have liked to have seen it. But totally agree with the FJ rubber floor. I had an old dodge truck that had a rubber mat. It was so easy to clean after a beach trip. Sadly everything else fell apart on that truck. RIP.

Its 1 thing i say all trucks need to have, atleast an option for it especially off road editions. I mean come on its in the name.

I think all trucks should have all wiring run in the center of the truck and all plugs should be at least 6 inches above the floor.
