I was fine, been to places where animals are known to eat people, for work, and this was in California where the black bears are known to be skittish. Had to calm the wife and kid down though haha

FL black bears are small and skiddish.

It's no Alaska. But we do have to punch sharks occasionally.

Your stats are based on Yellowstone. There are folks here that live in other parts of North America where brown bears are known to eat people, Kodiaks or grizzlies only attack when startled or sick and hungry.
I know where I am in California it’s not bears I’m worried about it’s people. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a ground or rtt when it comes to that. But having a prepared mind and hi situational awareness helps.

I’ll take that reef shark over a Canadian brown bear any day, lol. It’s basically an underwater Labrador.

I dove without a cage in Fiji with beqa adventures for a tv show, super fun. Surrounded by bulls, sand tigers and a rather large tiger named Scarface that still have a huge hook stuck in his mouth

I had a Tepui RTT for 4 years, I got it for a screaming deal at an REI Garage sale. I used it 3 times, which I didn't care about because it was a good piece of gear that was there when I wanted to use it. My issues were- No garage, so storing it was a hassle and installing/removing it was a bigger hassle. I didn't find it all that comfy, the stock mattress wasn't all that supportive to me. I had to carry an extra foam pad to put on top of the mattress. I used it once last summer and afterwards it just hit me as ' it's just a tent on top of the bed of my truck.'. No hating on anyone that has one and enjoys it, it just wasn't for me. The guy that bought it from me was stoked to get a great deal on one, he had it one top of his 4runner the same day that he got it from me. His kids were excited to go camping with it.

I built a sleeping platform for the back of my 4runner and enjoy that much more then the RTT. I'd love to have a teardrop trailer to use as a base camp setup.

You can shit inside any tent....just sayin. :anonymous:

Anyway, I'm not rehashing the pros ans cons for the bazillionith time. I just find it funny that some folks can't accept that tents (RTT's included) are like tools. Different tents have different uses. I don't strap my RTT to my back for backpacking trips...just as I wouldn't lug my giant subzero cooler or camp chairs or etc.

I have a RTT and I have several different ground tents. The outing determines the tent I use. The ladyfriend generally doesn't care to be on the ground and if we're out together we're generally not wheeling. So the RTT is where it's at. If I'm by myself or with the boys, maybe I'll just bring a ground tent.

Some people are RTT only people, some people are tent only people, some people like the option of both.

    Options my dudes....options.
