Is there a specific degree of angle that trips the side curtain air bags? I have looked through the manual but no spec. was found. I only read that when off road to turn them off. Was wondering if truck slid off the side of the road into a ditch would be enough to trigger the curtains?

Probably a stupid question (no stupid question, just stupid people asking them!), but how do you turn off side curtain airbags...I've never seen that switch

Its a button on your dash to the left of the steering wheel. If you dont have a trd off road you might not have it. Not sure about the sports.

So I got the base model 4x4, I didn't see the point in paying extra for tires, wheels, suspension, and painted bumpers since I planned on changing all those out anyway. So they recommend turning off side curtain airbags if going off-road, but only put that switch on the TRD?

It takes a rapid angle snap to cause the curtains to go off. I've seen 2 go off and usually its about 30 degrees in less than a second.

Yeah you are right, most of the stuff you get with the off roard and sport as superfluous, but there are some actually usefull assecories. Like the electronic lsd, diff locker, atrac and some other stuff. Some people have no use for them others use them every day.

I'm pretty sure all models equipped with RSCA have it because regardless of your trim package Toyota doesn't want to get sued if the airbags go off unexpectedly.

You have to hold the button in for 3 seconds and then a light should come on in your dash.

The manual also states that the "RSCA" button allows the Seat Belts to be easily unbuckled while the vehicle is stopped on a extreme angle.

    So does my '11 Sport.

I thought that every double cab (or maybe every double cab 4x4) past a certain year had it.

Good point. Its hard to keep up with all the trims and options and crap year in and year out. Just like how on 2013 the bent the rear exhaust hanger back from previous years. For what reason? I have no idea.

The reason I originally asked the question about the degrees of angle was that last week I had my truck on the Bristol motor speedway and when I went into the 3rd and 4th corner I remembered the rollover feature on our trucks. (after the fact) Bristol is banked 30 degrees. I was only doing 25 mph.

Ome, Sqeak free dakars, arms, skids, sliders.
Side curtons were optional from what I remember reading. So if you didn't get them you won't have a switch.
