Anyone have an RPOD 178 or similar size ? Might be getting one not long after I get my sport in a couple months. My wife and I are intrigued by the layout, looks nice.

We had a 177 (similar layout to 178) which we enjoyed for 4 camping seasons. Good towing weight and great for 2 but we found that we needed more counter space and storage.

We recently went to a 179 which we find a bit more comfortable and has plenty of counter space across the back and more storage than we need.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the 179 tows good. Loaded weight is around 3250 with tongue weight at 350. Taco does good in S4 gearlocked.

I have this passport ROV 173RB looks similar in size and weight. Truck does well with it in my opinion but it does work hard in the mountains, have to keep the RPMs high. I don’t use 5th or 6th when towing it. MPG usually in the 10-12 range. That’s with a TRDOR v6 6MT on stock wheels and tires.

I’ve been towing a 2019 R-pod 179 w/ my 2019 for the last year as I travel around America. I’ve always used a weight distribution hitch and installed a curt power brake booster. The 2019 OR 4x4 can handle it just fine. It definitely feels like you are towing. I carry a lot of weight. I’ve also been covering mountainous and desert terrains. My GVWR is just over 80%.

    Upgrades:
After my first trip from WA to southern CA and back, I upgraded the suspension with the terraflex tow/haul setup. Much better handling.
After spending more time towing in the mountains, I decided to upgrade to Nitro 5:29 gears. It made a huge difference.

Those two upgrades were the best I’ve made.
