Hey, everybody. New here. Something is bothering me about my '07 PreRunner.

It's a manual transmission and when I'm coming to a stop, I press the clutch in, put it in neutral and coast to the stop. The thing that's bothering me is that around 15-20mph when my engine should be pretty much idle because it's in neutral the RPM will jump up to past 1k and eventually go back to idle just as I'm completely stopped. Why the jump in RPM as I'm slowing? TIA.

What your describing sounds normal to me. as you are slowing, the air flow to the radiator is decreasing and the engine is still warm from running at a higher rpm(higher than idle) running down the road. In that case if the engine is still warm and not getting the air flow it needs to control the temp so the computer in gauges the clutch fan and adjusts the rpm up to compensate for driving the extra drag from the fan

If you notice letting the truck idle for any amount of time this will happen on and off quite frequently as the truck tries to keep its operating temp in check

This may have just become more noticeable with the summer heat

Just my input, hope that helps
