I like the look of the 70 series Land Cruisers overseas, the FJ Cruiser, and the new “1958” trim of the Land Cruiser 250 / Prado that’s coming back to the U.S. next year. Those round headlights have a cool rugged retro look.

Every aftermarket headlight for Tacoma that I’ve found accentuates the rectangular shape. Are there any headlights that anyone knows of that utilize the headlight opening in the 3G Taco in a unique way, with a round housing? That opening is more than big enough to fit an FJ Cruiser-style headlight toward the fender side, with a square turn signal on the grill side.

Any thoughts? Just stick with flat rectangular designs and stfu?

Well, anything is possible with enough money and bondo! You would be looking at significant customization to make this a reality.

    Carry on!

    Maybe I wasn’t clear with my wording.:D

I’m not going to try to shoe-horn headlights from a Land Cruiser into a Tacoma.

I’m asking if there are any manufactured for Tacoma that have a round shape / style.

It would depend how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. The stock spacing is relatively narrow to fit something round into. Not saying it can't be done, but you would probably be looking at a custom interior in a stock headlight housing. You would be limited by those dimensions. Or, you could try and retrofit something that you think fits the bill, but would then probably have to cut the fenders, maybe add some fiberglass extensions to the hood to fill in gaps etc.
I swear R4T or someone used to have a round eyed headlight set that they sold, but if I recall it was more of a "demon eye" look and very 2010 tuner Honda Civic-y.

These are by TEQ customs. It's just a Halo ring modded into a stock projector housing. If you're interested in that, there are members here who can do that for you and swap in an HID setup

yeah I saw those. You’re right, they look like Brian O’Conner and Jonny Tran about to turn on the nitrous. Not what I’m going for.

This is the look I want for the Tacoma. Any companies make anything even close to these?

Flex out of Japan is making conversions for Land Cruisers, they do have a showroom in San Diego.

Maybe contact them and see if they have any plans to do something for the Tacoma, do see Tacoma on their page.

This would probably be easier with a 2nd gen headlight reflectors are much bigger. The rectangular headlights on LC 250 would probably be easier to replicate for the 3rd gen.

Round lights on the 3rd gen would most likely require a redesigned bumper and grille.

Not necessarily. They’d have to see what the total top to bottom, side to side distance of the opening is, and then figure out what diameter circular headlight fits in there. Surround it with black plastic, and then add a small square turn signal, hazard light. Done.

I'm sure somebody could make it work. Use one of those round Diode Dynamic Jeep headlights or similar. Get some of those little round marker lights white for the marker light amber for turn. It could be modeled after the D-90 with a single white and single amber light, or the LC250 light white in the center amber on top amber top and bottom with three lights.

Hope so, but I sho ain’t that somebody. I got about 16 responsibilities on my list these days, none of them include designing /fabricating up truck parts. Went back to college at 38 years old, it’s f#cking torture.

You want 7 inch round headlights .
FJ Cruiser uses 7 inch headlights.
The 80 series Land Cruisers do conversions to 7 inch as well.

In my opinion our Tacoma grill is too massive to look good with 7 inch round headlamps . If you can redesign the grill while you are at , then maybe yes might look good.

Since those grills are straight across is why it works. Might look goofy on the Tacoma, only truck that has a huge hexagonal grill with round headlights is a ‘78 F-Series. Probably end up looking more like a Ford than a Toyota.
