Been scouring tonneau covers for the past week or two and every single one has people that love or hate it. I've narrowed it down to a few below, but first, has anyone seen or purchased this?

    https://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-tacoma-low-profile-tonneau-cover-47420500c.html

For $650 it seems like a good deal. Any other definitive opinions on hard folding covers would be helpful.

    Considered
    1. MX4 Bakflip (heard it's easy to break into, but RC one has same mechanism with plastic dogs and a pull string) Also seen that it scratches very easily.
    2. Extang Encore - Most likely to purchase just more money, similar to the G4.
    3. G4 Elite - So many mixed reviews and posts here about failures of this cover and others that love it, depending on how long they have had it.
    4. RC Low profile trifold

Have you considered the Lomax Tri-Fold? Comparative pricing through the forum.

Who is selling it through the forum? I dw it but a lot of people complained it is like the mx4 and can be easily defeated with a coat hook.

@GotExhaust .com sells them through the forum - scroll down a bit and you'll see a thread on them. I opted to go with one based on the posts in the thread.

We can help you out. We sell most brands. The Lomax is the most popular bed cover here and for most other applications. Contact me here by private message or you can email me at Nick@FreedomMotorsports.us

How do you like it? Upon looking at larger photos it appears to have a rather chinsey plastic dog system like many, and the latch at the front end of the box to strap it down is just nylon loop that hooks onto something. Are you still satisfied that it is solid built and reasonably difficult to break open?

I haven't received it, yet. Heck, I don't even have my new truck yet that it will go on. I opted to buy it based on reviewing the comments and pictures of people who have bought and installed it, as well as on the fact that it is one of the most popular sellers at Gotexhaust. When you look at the cost compared to other similar covers it seems a value buy.

In the end, the security issue is dependent on what purpose you want the cover to perform, IMHO. I'm not looking for something that will protect items I store in the truck bed - just a cover that takes items out of sight and provides basic protection. I don't intend to leave things in the bed long term - I'd go with a hard cover for that. This one seems to suit my purpose.

But, it may not be what you want or have the features important to you. Just thought I'd offer what I felt was an option. You're not going to hurt my feelings if you don't like it or want something different.

Ended up with the Lomax trifold, installed it a few days ago. Overall none of them will keep a crowbar from opening it, so I decided to go with something low profile. This cover is better than the aluminum honeycomb ones, where people saw either delamination, water penetration, or dents from hail (honeycomb doesn't handle compression well and has memory). This one has solid sheets of thin aluminum. My only concern in time is it hinges with rubber seals and those will dry and wear out in sunlight, but they sell replacement parts relatively inexpensively so I'm not too worried.

Sounds good, thanks for the info. My main concerns were water and some type of security. But i know if someone wants to get in, they will get in by any means.

I'm also interested in this cover from Rough Country. I've been trying to find a comparison review between it and the comparable bakflip. Price-wise, RC is a no brainer. However, I don't mind paying more if there's truly better options out there.
