Im looking at purchasing the rough country 4in lift for my tacoma. I wanna know if anyone else has this lift and what they think of it. I traded in my 2016 wrx for the tacoma so im a novice when it comes to lifted trucks and suspension work. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're probably better off with the 6 inch lift. They're the same price for rough country dropped bracket lift
Or you can do a 3" suspension and 1" body lift and hope you can get as close to 4" as possible

I'm also on the same quest as you lol
But I'm considering doing a DB lift just to have good clearance for 33" tires.

This is my 6" Rough Country lift.. with 35" tires.. yea I was new to the lift scene too but for the same price for a 4" lift I got the 6" lift and bigger wheels and I love it!

I did Bilstein 5100 s and got 4" in front and I added a jeep front leaf pack to the rear . It gave me 5" in the back . I run 285-75-16 on stock rims but had to run spacers on front

Wait...what?? I really want to hear about the Jeep springs in the rear. Which ones? And any mods to make them work. Please elaborate.
You can PM me if need be, but I'm surely interested.

Dumb question, but is a 3" lift real noticeable in comparison to oem? Originally I wanted 6", but it appears that most go with 2.5-3", but number wise that doesn't sound like a lot so I wasn't sure if it is noticeable.

I did a 3" level kit on mine and left it with stock wheels and it looked noticeable.
Once you go 33s it looks like you have the same clearance as stock lift and tires

Thanks for your response. What is the best 3" lift on the market? Im assuming this is all opinion based for the most part.

This is not meant as a discouragement to lifting your vehicle. Please note: this is just to inform you.

If you are not willing to spend thousands of dollars, don't mess with your suspension's ride height.

Here is the scoop. If you change your ride height, you need to fix all of the suspension and driveline geometry you just threw out of whack. Non-negotiable.

Let's start with the front... Raising the front requires you to correct the roll center, camber gain, bump steer, Ackerman steering, and then an front end alignment. The first 4 cost a lot of money. Don't forget: if you have a 4wd, then you need to correct the driveline geometry you just messed up. Again, money.

Now for the rear... Raising the rear cause less trouble than the front, but you need to be diligent none the less. The most important thing you need to correct is driveline geometry. With a 2 piece driveshaft, there are a lot of angles to be mindful off. These must be corrected when lifting a vehicle. Roll center needs to be considered as well, but this is very minor. Last, a front end alignment to correct the faster you just through out. Finally, you need to test for vibrations in the driveline and correct as needed.

Failing to correct the geometry after a lift results in a realization that you paid money to make your vehicle worse. Though, to be fair, it may look a little nicer.

It will not void your warranty but Toyota can deny any warranty claims you make that they can link to your lift/altered suspension/driveline. So your shocks, control arms, driveshaft, differential seals, CV boots, etc. I've lifted 3 of my 6 tacos, there's a reason I'm not lifting this one...
