I figure I'll pull the trigger on the RC hard tri-fold tonneau cover (rests on top, not low profile) but wanted to get last thoughts or opinions if anyone has experience with this one - especially water resistance. Was going to get the RC low profile but keeping my rails/tie-downs and no holes in the bed got my attention. It's going on my new 2020 Tacoma SR5. Any thoughts good or bad?

Purchased and installed the Rough Country hard tri-fold cover. I like it but definitely have a few install tips and observations to share. Happy that I kept my rails and tie-downs. Will upload some tips and pics later as well.

I have a Tyger that is basically similar if not identical with a different name on it. I replaced with an ARE CX cap but the cover did the job just fine. Mine stayed pretty dry, just a little seepage under the bedrails on the sides of the bed. I could stand on mine with no issues (200lbs). Works pretty well for the price and you don't lose bed space or the use of the rail system.

Here are a few points about the Rough Country Hard Tri-fold Tonneau cover (not the low profile version) - sort of a review and install tips.

    - Well packaged and delivered without damage. Was concerned because it is large and 50+ lbs.
    - Fully assembled. Just install the clamps, align and fasten it down. In reality, it took me 90 minutes because I take my time and enjoy working through these things patiently. You could bang it on in 30 min if you wanted to.
    - Tip #1 - You must flip the dust / water gasket up and get it between the cab and bed for the cover to lay flat and be waterproof. This was hard to do and took an extra set of hands, but it's important and worth getting right. I have pics below of it done wrong and right, just to show it. But both are before clamping down on the inside so in reality there is no gap when completed as you see in the pic.
    - Tip #2 - The 2 bolts closest to the cab are 1/2" too short meaning that you must remove the nylon nut in order to loosen the hand-tightened clamp. This is a problem because now removal/install will take more time and need pliers.
    - Tip #3 - I'm going to go back and blue threadlock the small retaining screws that hold the four rail clamps in place. They would be a pain to replace and might loosen up and get lost easily.
    - I went with this cover because I could retain my rail and the tie-downs. Plus, no drilling needed for tubes since the cover doesn't use a rail to collect and funnel the water.
    - I can see some cracks of light near the cab from inside the bed so it's probably 99% water resistant but not perfect. Good enough for my purposes.

Overall, well made and looks good. It's only a day old at this point so I'll see how it stands up to the test of time.

I'd hold off on the thread locker initially. You will want to snug everything up once more after a few days. It seems there is a fastener stretch or more likely gasket compression that made mine need a few more turns tighter after being on the truck for a few days. It wasn't going to blow off or anything, but I wanted the section nearest the cab pretty snug. You can also stick some foam in the gaps by the front bedrail on each side behind the cab. You will get a little water in through there driving in rain.
