I am wanting to buy a roof to either truck bed or hitch rack. Right now I think they only sell these racks in pairs (i.e. 2 bed racks or 2 roof racks). So I'm thinking I would have to buy the set and throw away one of each.

Does anyone know if there is a way to buy these racks individually or buy a set that comes with one roof rack and one bed rack?

I also Kind of want them to match. Any ideas? I have a 2012 Tacoma Access Cab.

    Mike -

You can try searching Craigslist for a TracRac TracONE ladder rack. I got a TracONE from CL about a month ago for $100 and modified it following the directions on this thread (see post #37 and #38 for my experience with the TracRac mod):

    PS

If you don't want to go the CL used and mod route. Here's the TracRac G2 for compact trucks.

Thanks for the advice. I didnt go with the Tracrac since it seemed pricey and I wanted the rack to be able to be removed when I wasn't using it.

I ended up buying a Thule square bar and foot pack for the roof and re-fashioned an old hitch bike rack into a T rack. I got it done for about $250.

It works like a charm but when I'm not going far I just throw the kayak in the bed and tie a flag on the end. So much easier!

I did mine for a short haul 3 miles from our condo to the surrounding lakes. I saw another guy use PVC uprights to make his level. Front is a Yakima steel kayak rack. upload_2017-9-2_13-1-33.jpg

Lost the third pic, but here's proof that yes, it's redneck, yes it's 2x4's and discarded carpet held in with a ratchet binder, but yes, it works:
