    Hello Taco world experts!!

I recently purchased a 2014 access cab 4cyl manual Tacoma. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Not loving the speakers. A little spoiled from my 2013 Rav (still have that as well!) I have no problem replacing the front door speakers but the ones in the header of roof are REALLY awful. They are in such a stellar spot!!! I'm wondering if anyone has replaced them and with what? I assume they are a fairly low profile speaker?? Also guessing that's a "pro" install....?

    Any info greatly appreciated!!!

There are people who added them to the back doors. Way better then trying to replace those cralpy roof speakers. Just cut the wires to them and leave them.

I hope to be adding speakers in the rear doors on mine soon, hate the roof speakers.
I'm not sure what I will do with them, maybe just disconnect wiring or use in addition with new rear door speakers if possible.

I've been interested in fixing the rear "speakers" on mine since about day 3 of owning. Is Toyota really that cheap that instead of real rear speakers they put in these crap things?

Almost seems like false advertising calling the system 6 speakers.

Wait...there are rear speakers? With the base Entune audio system? When I got my '14 Access Cab I tried adjusting the front/rear fader and there was no sound coming from the back. I assumed that there weren't any speakers back there. If there are, then I've got something to add to the "dealer fix" list.

    They aren't real "speakers".

Get yourself a schematic. I tapped into the roof speaker wires behind the stereo and ran new speaker wires through the kick panels, under the door thresholds, through the wire loom into the back doors and installed 6" round rear door speakers. I cut the panels and installed the grilles. It sounds great and the tiny roof speakers are still there. It's really not so hard a job. ********* sells the speaker fitment rings. The sound is much better! There simply is no room in the headliner area to do anything there.

I think I read that some trucks already had the wiring in the rear doors because rear speakers were an option. Mine didn't. You might get lucky! There are speaker shaped holes in the metal frame.

The connector for the headliner speakers is in the drivers side A pillar. I think it is a black connector.

So this is the first time I've heard about roof speakers. I don't have them in my '13 DC TRD Offroad. I do have rear door speakers though, or at least those transducers, but they are in the rear doors. Has anyone switched out the front door speakers along with the rear with the stock radio? Sound better?

Anyone think upgrading the front and rear door speakers is worth it with the stock non JBL touchscreen headunit? I already have some nice 6.5" I'm not using that I could put in the rear. Those along with some decent 6x9's should be a nice upgrade. Anyone know the RMS output of the stock radio?

As a DC owner I'm interested in seeing these speakers. Any pics? Roof speakers.
