I just install a Victory 4x4 roof rack on & once I get to about 60mph, I get the worst road noise. Like something is rattling and hitting the truck. The rack is secure & all my bolts are tighten. I can’t seem to figure out what it is. Any tips??

Probably a rail or the air dam tapping the roof. Roof racks are very noisy at highway speeds regardless. That’s why I sold mine. Good luck.

I have the @upTOPoverland Bravo rack and it's silent, even with an awning and Pelican box

It's definitely the rack. Didn't have the noise before it.

Does the back cross member have rubber edge trim on the bottom of the lip that sits on/near the 3rd break light?

If not, I would loosen that bar raise it up, install some rubber edge trim and lower it all the way down tight to the cab.

When I first installed my victory roof rack, I had raised that piece as far up as I could. However, when I got up to speeds of 65mph to 70mph I would hear a clanging noise. My thought was that piece was flexing and knocking somehow, after I installed the rubber trimming it stopped. YMMV.

I also sometimes get a wicked vibration that travels down into my rear view mirror.

These type of extrusion racks start resonating at certain speeds, especially on a windy day, and make a shit load of racket when you don’t have something like the rubber edge trim to break up that air flow.

80/20 sells rubber and plastic versions of trim to fit the extrusion slots too which I placed on the forward sections of my own diy rack and it is essentially silent.

I recently installed the victory rack on mine and had the same issue. My front piece wasn’t adjusted down all the way. At highway speeds the noise started. I reached out and felt the piece vibrating like CRAZY. The fix is what everyone else said. Put the rubber strip on and lower it so that it sits snugly on the roof.

hey man. had a similar issue with another rack. Here was the solution. Make sure the rack is centered and aligned properly in respect to the roof of the truck. Second, im sure you tightened all the bolts correctly but still had to mention. Third, this was the solution to my vibration issues. If your rack has load bars that are adjustable ( couple inched forward or rearward) re- adjust those to another position. My roof rack has a very front load bar that sits in a adjustable slot to go forwrd or rearward by a couple inches. Mine was orginally in the very rear postion and then i moved mine all the way to the front. Dont ask me how this solves it but it did on mine. No vibrations and rides with no noise or rattle.

Can you post some pics of it installed? When I installed my Prinsu with a light bar I had no noticeable noise.

I think that is my problem, when I installed I had no clue what that piece was for. I'm finally going to mess with it tonight so hopefully that solves it. Thanks!
