Hello everyone, I was off roading today in my 19 2wd TRD Off-road . I was trying a trail that was just too step for my truck, so I began to roll backwards, while still in drive. Next thing I know I’m stopped after the incline evens out, and my truck is dead. Lights flashing that my transmission fluid is low and overheating. Tried to put truck in park and restart, would not turn over. It just kept doing to thing were the car is starting but never turning over. So I stopped, gave it a few min then tried again. Truck started but sounded off for sure, like it barely wanted to start. I’m in the middle of borrego springs so this would not be good. Thankfully it started. What could be going on? 18,500 miles

Rolling backwards in drive with an auto tranny is a big no-no. Put it in reverse or neutral and go slowly to do that.

2 Foot driving bro. Takes some practice but it works well, it's a poor man's crawl control.

Even in 4 lo I'll ride the brake sometimes and throttle to brake away from the stop, to make sure I go forward. 2WD takes more skill to navigate challenges, so you have to work with what you have.

I did that once, but it started right back up. Had the same flashing lights and showed overheating transmission. While it's not good for it, I think it's part of the safety built in to prevent damage, like accidentally hitting reverse while going down the road.
