Make sure to get on the cot and and have someone measure the ass dip. I would also take into account stretching over time and any weight gain.

Agreed. Fortunately i've had this cot for a few years so it's pretty well stretched. I'll definitely have someone measure depth with me on it though, really good call.

Yup, I have the same set up. The only issue is, since my head is right at where the canopy overhangs, it's a little too short to stretch out. I usually sleep on my side with my legs bent slightly anyway, so it's good enough for a night or two.

Oh man, looks like this fits the bill. No wheel well interference from middle legs, and it clears the tailgate.

I use a ThermArest luxury map now that works great until my dog decides to invade my space.

Re-upping this old thread because I am considering one of these. How have people's experience with these cots been? I am considering a 28 inch wide models in the back of my access cab. Have a high topper so not super concerned about height. I weigh 230 however and am worried about a considerable sag in the cot given the absence of center support.

Put a 3" twin-bed memory foam mattress topper on it (Bed, Bath and Beyond) and you won't want to get out of it in the morning.

That is actually exactly my plan. I have a 3 inch memory foam mattress that I just put on the truck bed right now. Mostly fine, but figure getting some extra space underneath the cot and being off the ground could be nice. Only worry is it won't support my weight and the weight of the mattress and will sag.

did you get one? I’ve had mine for 20+ years and it is still like brand new. No ass sag here!

I even cut about 1” off each of the 4 legs to get some more head clearance and I don’t hit anything stored underneath.

Honest question: (i've never used a cot)

With a matress already in hand, and the room to set the cot-up in the bed; why then not just sleep on the mattress resting directly on the bed?

What other advantages would this have?
    Is comfort the main advantage?

It would seem that the cot is more restrictive as far as ppssible sleeping positions.

The cot fits but doesn’t look like a lot of space to move around . This set up would work if the shell was taller .

This cot is super comfortable, packs up small and sets up both in about 5 minutes.

When traveling you can pack up the cot and now have more storage space. If you had a mattress on the floor you lose that space.

when setup, you can also put things under the cot so you have more leg room.

I don’t disagree but in a truck bed it is all trade offs. I have a mid-rise topper and cut about 1.5” off the legs of my cot to give me more headroom. I can sit up on the cot and not hit my head.
