I purchased a heater blend door actuator from Rockauto using a part number (SI F04007) I got off one of the forums. The part number was wrong. I contacted Rockauto and they would not accept a return even whit the part being unused. Make sure you have the correct part number. I will not be doing business with Rockauto anymore.

This is an electrical device correct? Most places will NOT take returns on electrical items. You have an issue and it fries their brand new part and they take it back and can’t test it and they get burnt. It is a pretty standard policy no matter where you go.

And they are just an internet reseller. They don't have anything 'in stock'.

So return policies, on any part, are based on the actual vendor the part came from.

I've used them. But not much. Been lucky.

Well, if you ordered the part using your part number and didn't verify it with their look up then it really isn't a @RockAuto issue. No returns on electronic/electrical parts is pretty standard at auto parts stores.

Rock Auto also usually has a link somewhere in the part description that tells you what years and models this part is compatible with.

Since that part fits 302 General motors models you should be able to unload it on fee bay to cut your losses. Ive used Rock for over Ten years never an Issue. Always check and double check on electrical parts no parts house I know of accepts returns.

The feature that allows you to input vehicle information and it tells you what parts are compatiable is inaccurate as well sometimes. My boss ordered front brake calipers, pads and rotors for his 2wd F-150 based on it saying it was compatiable. The rotors were for a 4wd. rock auto refused the return. They are still sitting in the corner of our shop.

I would just send them back in this case with a note explaining it, might shame them into issuing a refund.

He ended up calling and explained what happened. They responded that the compatibitly was not 100% accurate all the time and it is the customers responsibility to read the entire description before purchasing. He doesn’t shop there anymore.

I don't think anybody accepts returns on electrical parts. With electronic parts, pull the old one out and get the exact part number before ordering. You have no idea how often they do split year parts. Example, every truck built between January and June of 2017 will have this part and every truck between July and December will have this part. In all honesty just keep the part. Never know, may need it.

You may want to point this out to whomever responded to you that they will not take it back.
Although many companies do not take returns on electrical parts, I see no clause here that reflects this.

    From Rock Auto.

Dangermoney, HappyThanksgiving........Electrical parts are usually nonreturnable because if the customer damages it and it not obvious, When its resold the buyer may have a defective part. It also keeps people from trouble shooting buy getting every part that might be defective and returning the rest..........

I've received a wrong part from Rockauto and they made it right. I don't use Rockauto exclusively, but I've had good experiences when I do. Sorry to hear your stuck with a wrong part.

Just curious, why did you use Rock Auto instead of an OEM part, price or convenience or both? Not trying to be a wise guy, just wanting to know. I tend to lean towards OEM myself.

I bought a set of headlights from them. They got condensation in them and I contacted them. "Buy replacements, send the bad ones back and we'll credit you," was the response I got. They're boxed back up and will be in the mail tomorrow or Saturday....
