I don’t plan on off-roading. Very simple stuff.

Do I have Any need for the kick out option?

If not for offroading, then I assume you want them as steps. - If so, the kickout makes a great step for those in the back and for reaching the top of the truck. The non kick out portion does not extend a whole bunch beyond the body (purposefully as they make for less material to hit obstacles with).

Note that they do make for VERY heavy steps though...

I do think that the kick out looks better.

If you're never going to off-road but want steps, get actual steps; but note steps are damage multipliers off road, they will snag bend up and twist and always right into your rocker panel, I've seen it happen so bad the guy couldn't open his drivers side doors.

Sliders can be used as steps but typically they're tucked up close to the body so you can't really get a toe under the cab and tilted up for even greater clearance as they're ment to protect your rocker panel not be used for ingress/egress.

But if you want sliders as they're some of the most important pieces of off road armor to actually invest in as a just in case and as something that can kind of double as steps then I would get the kickout. They're fabulous off road and really do help climbing and reaching i to the bed.

You might try to find some good used (or new) Predator steps. They look great, are very light, easy to install, and work well as steps. Just don’t work them like sliders.

No. But you don't really need sliders in that case either. Lots of extra weight to carry around. Do what makes you happy...

lol facts. They bolt directly under the cab into the body and not the frame I think. I mounted a set on my step sisters truck earlier today and they turned out nice. They weigh 13 lbs each so its safe to say they wont hold up off-road

I plan on going on simple trails, cape cod orv trails.

There are some "rocks" but don't need sliders for this.

I think they look good, and don't want to fudge my rockers.
I guess I didn't think about the weight that much. I hate how low regular steps sit.

My wife hates the sliders. They sit at just the right spot that when she goes to slide out of the truck, the back of her calf slides against the slider and 9 times out of 10 leaves a big dirt/mud stain. Mine are only up about 10 degrees though, you could tuck them a little bit more but I like the kickout to push off of rocks laterally in tight width spots.

You could get a set of 0* sliders with top plates. We use these as a step every time we get in and out of the truck. I also second the kickouts as a step to access the bed or roof.

My Brute Force Fab weld on sliders have the kickout and the fill plate. Love them as steps. I cut the angle off so they'd stick out straight/flat. The kickout is just out far enough I can sit a Mcdonalds cup on it while I'm getting in the front door. As for your calf sliding down them... YUP! it's gonna happen, you are going to get dirty... about half a dozen times... then you will learn how to get in your truck and never have it happen again.

everything others said is true. 5% angles so still great for step. you will get dirt on pants but same with most steps. Kick out is great for standing on and parking lot door dings.
get what u want. If weight issue, get aluminum sliders

If you know you don't need sliders, then definitely go with a less expensive option. I personally hate the predators, I feel like the step is in the wrong spot for me. When I had my tundra, which I never took offroad, I had a set of Havoc HST running boards. They look like a slider, sit up high like a slider, are a little heavier duty and stick out far enough to make a great step. I think I paid like $500 bucks for them and they mounted in factory bolt holes where the predators mount, so very straight forward and very solid. I liked them, the powder coating held up super well and looked great and they were high enough up out of the way that they wouldn't have been an anchor like the predators would. For half the price, it was a great compromise for me.

I'd. get sliders. You never know if you'll be in a situation where you will need them or gain experience and want to tackle more adventurous trails.

No, in fact, you don't even need rock sliders.

My sliders have the kick out. I use it all the time to hope into the bed or get shit off the roof. If they are built right they can act as both an old man step up and true slider

Also even around town sliders are great. Just wait till the next time your wife drives the truck and turns too sharp into a telephone pole or concrete pillar in a parking garage. Also nice to protect the panels from opening doors in parking lots as well as texting drivers merging into your lane ... just saying it’s not just for “rocks”. The cbi front and rear bumpers have also saved my trucks paint and panels form shopping cars and my brother in laws shitty parking skills lol

Oh forgot to mention tight city driving on narrow streets . This one is the most common for me , If a car gets too close and tries to squeeze by me going the opposite way... say buy to that nice paint job on ur ugly cross over Audi lady lolz. Literally zero worry about that parking too

You know What. 90% of the reason I got sliders and bumpers was city driving lolz. It’s like being a 6’2” 240lb linebacker ... do they get out of the way for other people ... no
