Not in the wheel well , you mount them in front of the tires near the frame

I'm gonna again and also wire some in for the entry lights. I'll end up with, 12 probs. One under each door-4, ones under the corners of the bumpers-4, then one each in the wheel wells. The first 8 is really all you'll need. Don't really need the wheel well ones since these trucks don't flex for it to be worth it, just look cool. Lol something like my jeep here for reference

We got two pictures. One showing a proper setup and the other showing an improper setup.

The top picture has lights mounted before and after the wheel wells and illuminate obstacles directly infront of and behind the tire. Perfect to see where tire placement is and wheel position.

The lower picture has the lights mounted above the tire in the wheel well. The shadow cast blocks visibility of obstacles and does not aid in wheel placement.

or..... just how I want it? I wouldn't consider this an improper setup.

Well, I would say the top picture is for offroading and the second picture is for mall crawling. Both properly installed for their desired application :)

If they're rock lights. It's a bad set up. Doesn't do the job that it is intended to do. Accent lighting then yes. They do a mighty fine job at that and look good. By all means though do share how they're mounted and wired. Info could help the OP if that's what he's looking for.

I get what you're saying. Just look at the shadows, seems the opposite of what you want off road

Exactly what I’m going for except in white lol I feel like “colors” make it harder to see everything

Definitely want a setup that is 100% useable, I’m not looking to really “rock crawl” but I want to see whatever obstacles I may be encountering while wheeling at night. I bought a set of rock lights from Pro Comp suspension because of the price and I have also heard some great things about them from jeepers. The only downside is that it only comes with 6 which I feel isn’t quite enough for our trucks. So I’m going to buy another set and run 8-10.
Here is where I’m going to place one behind the rear wheel.

It was an rgb/w setup. Ran colors for show and to play and the white on trails. But I also wheeled tf out that thing. To boldly go where no tacoma could dream of.

Question was about rock lights. I’m sure they light up the mall curbs perfectly, but look where they cast a shadow around the wheels / axle etc. The exact areas you need to light up are cast in a shadow, you’ve actually made it worse, they are like anti rock lights. Clearly these are not rock light, just show / accent lights.

Running 4 amber Baja design rock lights each in front of the tires, they do a ok job but the output just isn’t enough so rn I’m currently waiting on 8 kc cyclones in amber to replace them. 2 front 4 center 2 rear
