Have a nasty rock chip on door. Is this a body shop only repair. Looking for suggestions or experiences others have had fixing.

I would just go get a touch up pen from the dealer and put it on.

That was my first thought. However the size of the chip has me wondering how durable that will be.

Like first response said just hit it with touch up color matched pen. outline it with frog tape and add a coat. let it dry, ad some more, let it dry until you match original thickness. it is just for rust control.

    That chip is tiny.

FYI: I touched up black paint on my 2011 in 2013 when I removed the bug deflector that rubbed off the paint. I touched it up and it has held up to car washes etc.

It'll hold up just fine. As long as you prep it correctly and such it'll turn out just fine. Might have a slight blemish there but it'll hold up

I've touched up many rock chips. I'm personally a big fan of dr color chip as I think it produces great results, but a touch up pen will also produce good results. Honestly it's low enough on the car that once it's white, your not really going to notice it. It sticks out now because it's dark. I'm sure there are some videos of how to do touch up if you really want to go nuts, but for a spot that low just touch it up and don't think about it again.
