First timer on here.. I replaced my right front amber directional bulb twice now in the last 2 weeks. All other bulbs are functional on my truck. I am beginning to think there is a bad socket or wiring connector. If I put a new bulb in it will work but only for a limited time frame… I have a basic continuity tester. How do I locate the issue rather than putting another bulb in. I did confirm the correct bulbs are being used as I compared with the left front bulb which appears to original and fully functional.

You swapped bulbs to confirm the ‘bad’ one was in fact bad? Look inside the socket to make sure there are no blackened contacts. If there are, the base can be replaced. See 90075-60060. I had to replace one on my aftermarket lamp connector. Add some dielectric grease on all metal contacts.

I had problems with this bulb too - until I got the exact specified bulb. It is a 3157NAK . Auto parts store employees kept trying to tell me that others would work (after all they know everything right?).

The 3157NAK has the right shade of amber - and importantly, the "K" indicates krypton gas fill to insure it stays a bit cooler in the DR housing.

That doesn't explain why only the right one is blowing. I have DRLs and have never liked the amber lights. I replaced mine with clear bulbs, 3157, since day 3.

Thanks for the input this far!

Alright to clarify, I looked at the amber running light directional bulb on the driver front which has had no problems, took the number off the bulb and asked Napa for a replacement. both numbers matched so I used that. I will verify the part number shortly

You have to push almost unreasonably hard to 'pop' those into place. It probably works because it's wedged in, then vibrates loose after a short time.
Put on leather gloves and make sure the bulb is properly seated. I had this same problem.

Good call winkel!! The bulb/socket clicked when I replaced the bulb and I figured it was fine. I just tried again and it definitely wasn’t seated all the way as more pressure was needed to get the bulb to seat all the way in the socket. Very surprising how much pressure was needed.
Thank you for all the info and feedback, I will continue to contribute if possible.

1st time Tacoma owner and I am super happy with it.
