Warning: Long AF, but I am OCD about stuff like this. Both were tested in my '17 DCSB with MT. I would have included the Husky E-Xact fit, but they are only available for the rear seats and my OCD wont let me have two different kinds of floor mats that don't match.

After reading several threads about these two mats, I decided to order both and return whichever one I didn't like. I decided to compare and score them in 5 categories:

Cost, Coverage, Fit and Finish, Security (how well they stay in place), and Durability

    Cost:

The Weathertechs were purchased direct from the manufacturer for $179.90 for the set, plus $18.00 shipping, for a total of 197.90.

The Husky's were purchase from AutoAnything. Regular price is $179.92 for the set, but you can pretty much get 10% off anything by using live chat, and shipping is free, so the grand total was $161.93.

    Winner: Husky

    Coverage:

    IMG_1271.jpg
^As you can see, the Husky driver's side mat has better coverage underneath the pedals, especially on the dead pedal.

    IMG_1273.jpg
^Here is a pic with the Weathertech on top of the Husky (both drivers side), showing how much less coverage it has.

    IMG_1274.jpg IMG_1275.jpg
^Passenger side mats are almost identical.

    IMG_1280.jpg
^The Husky showing full coverage of the dead pedal, and almost all the way to the firewall

    IMG_1283.jpg
^Weathertech showing a gap along the to top edge, about 3-4 inches away from the firewall.

    IMG_1285.jpg
    ^Rear mat comparison

    IMG_1286.jpg
^Rear mats stacked, the Husky is on top. As you can see, the rear Husky's have about 1-2 inches less coverage than the Weathertech.

    IMG_1288.jpg
^Rear Weathertech installed. Notice how far under the front seat it goes.

    IMG_1290.jpg
Rear Husky's. Angle is different, but you can see it doesn't go as far underneath the seat.

Overall, the superior coverage for the driver's side area make up for the slightly reduce coverage in the back seat.

    Winner: Husky

    Fit and Finish:

Both sets were removed from the box and installed at the same time to compare how well they fit:

    IMG_1277.jpgIMG_1276.jpg
^Front Passenger Husky. Very little gap on door sill and around edges.

    IMG_1279.jpgIMG_1278.jpg
Weathertech: Much more gap on the left side, and huge gap on the door sill. Might get better with time, but maybe not.

The fit on the rear mats was excellent for both. The drivers side was the same as the passenger, the Husky had a tighter fit, especially on the sill.

    Winner: Husky

    Security:

No contest. The Husky's have multi directional nibs on the back the grab the carpet:
    IMG_1291.jpg

Whereas the Weathertech are smooth. The passenger side especially slides around easily when entering/exiting:

    IMG_1292.jpg

    Winner: Husky

    Durability:

Using a micrometer, I took multiple measurements of the thickness of each mat, and averaged them:

    Husky average thickness: .091
    Weathertech Average thickness: .101

Both companies offer a lifetime warranty, but Weathertech's specifically excludes "extreme abrasive conditions" whereas the Husky only excludes "abnormal wear and tear" such as a dog chewing it etc. I will say I have dealt with Weathertech customer service before, and they are top notch. I don't doubt they would replace one of their products that wasn't up to par.

    Winner: Tie

Conclusion: Given that the Husky was the clear winner in 4 out of 5 categories, I went with them. I will update this thread in the future to document how well they wear as time goes on.

    Awesome comparison review
I have a set of the Huskys and one of the standout features above Weathertech was just how soft and pliable it is, yet still very durable and solid. Definitely feels like a better fitting mat.

No anchors on passenger side on the 3G?

Not on mine. One of the reasons the Husky was so much better was the nibs that bite into the carpet on that side to hold the mat in place. Honestly, it doesn't even need anchors, they hold really well.

One reason i hope to replace my carpet with the utility grade floor covering someday.

    To eliminate floor mats.

Thats crazy. My GFs Camry doesnt have them on the passenger side and i hate riding over there. Her Weather Techs slide and its irritating. Mainly because she drives like a maniac and i need traction!

Really nice review and very thorough. I myself just ordered the Husky X-act and hope they fit and function as well as the weatherbeaters you reviewed.:hattip:

Great review! I went Husky Weatherbeaters for the Taco. I had WeatherTech's in my WRX and liked them well enough. Having the "nibs" on the Husky mats was a huge plus as I always noticed how un-anchored WeatherTech's would ride up really bad on the passenger side. The Husky's barely move.

OP I have the Huskys on a MT truck.

question for anyone here: has anyone else found that the clutch needs to be pressed extra hard to engage the ignition when starting? after installing these mats I thought i was having an ignition issue... turns out it's just the mat being too close to the end of clutch pedal travel, so if i don't hammer my left leg down to ignite, it won't turn over at all. it's no problem, just wondering if anyone else has that.

maybe i should break out my heat gun.

I haven't noticed that on mine.:notsure: 17,5xx miles logged so far using them. I would try the heat gun as you mentioned to flatten out the lip a little.

Maybe this has been said, but the weather techs come a lot higher up the side of the trans tunnel.

I have weather techs in my 2nd gen Tacoma and a set from my ram. I think I'm going to try huskys in my new 4Runner. Can't go wrong with either.

Great write-up bro! All but solidified in my mind that Husky is the way to go. Good to see a comparison of both of them. Well done!

Has anyone compared Husky/Weathtechs to Toyota TRD all-weather mats? Not sure I got the Toyota name right, and I only saw the mats they make for Tundra's, but they looked exactly like Husky Xact's.

What a difference a little time makes... OP lists the Husky's front/rer set price at AutoAnything as being $180 on March 23rd. I just followed his link, their "normal" price for the full set is now $238, currently "on sale" for $200 for the full set :(
