Depending on what credit card someone uses many come with extended warranties too as part of the card.

Side note, my holdup with this is the vent shapes not matching and the not closing aspect. does the MID still work fully and how does the mic integrate?

Hey OP, which version did you get? The webpage shows default and then a 2nd with a carplay dongle?

The reason I selected this one was from the existing support I saw from their company. They have a FB group that included their beta testers and their engineers for the products. I grew up in the 80's and have had my share of Alpine, Sony and Kenwood head units in cars - even had the first CDX 7580 (Sony CD Player) in my 1987 Toyota pick up. I also like the open source ability of the unit which unlike most mainstream head units from the big brands. Couple that with the screen size and I was sold. I've only had a couple of things I have liked in the 4th gens - the 14" screen, the rear bumper (ARB) and the front grill with the TRD Pro lightbar. I've replicated the grill and the screen, just looking for a rear bumper now

I got mine off of Amazon - I got the base model and it has both wired and wireless CarPlay/AA: https://amzn.to/41vpCuU

So no extra dongle required or sent?

Nothing attached externally from the unit. There was an internal little box on mine that attached - check my video in the #2 comment on this thread and it goes over what was included with mine.

Ya, I think that is the Canbus adapter. Odd how it calls out an additional dongle for Carplay though.

Yep, that's the name....Canbus - Couldn't think of it a minute ago. Yeah, I never figured out why it would need an additional adapter. From the support group, I have noticed that the base model (mine) has a completely different user interface (settings menu) than the higher configured models (higher RAM and storage) - the higher models also have different options for the Android side of things like the main screen and the customization of it.

Do you find that the base model is sufficient with out lag when using it? I’ve been debating between the base or 8+128g. And what do you mainly use it for?

Yep, my base model is solid for what I use it for: 90% CarPlay running multiple apps like Maps, Spotify, etc. I use it 10% of the time on the Android side when streaming video like YouTube, Netflix and Paramount+ - no issues there either. I think If you install complex apps on the Android side, you might need the additional RAM and storage, but for just CarPlay running an audio bluetooth connection, the base is perfect

Its interesting I think if the vents were more OEM like instead of blatantly different Id be tempted, as that screen looks crisp. I've enjoyed my 10" Dasaita for about 5 years now with zero issues, outside of being an unknown brand I feel some of these companies get a bad rap.

With that said this is a premium cost opposed to my HU which was a relative bang for the buck at the time. So I get the hesitance by some.

Side note do you still have control of your OEM USB plug? Thats a functionality I think I flubbed when installing my Dasaita.

The vents initially bothered me, but the screen and the functionality has made up 10 fold. I don’t see any air volume change at all, so that’s good. With CarPlay built in, I rarely use my OEM USB….im not sure if it even works still. But the unit comes with a 1 or 2 additional connected USB ports if needed.

Are those additional USB's for power only or have data too?

I have a 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro w/JBL + upgraded Kicker speakers. Do you know what happens to the Rear parking sensors and the SOS button? Are those still working functions with the unit? Seriously considering the 12+256mb blk model.

I think I answered on the video - yes on the parking sensors, yes on the vehicle settings. Not sure about the SOS button

I'm not offended by what you said, but I have to ask who are you to question what anyone needs or doesn't. People have to take responsibility/accountability for their own actions and how they affect themselves and others.

A lot of asian off brands are upping their game to compete state-side. My inherent problem with this is potential malware, but that's always a concern with me and any CCP/Asian product.

I have a JL Audio amp setup, any issues there with setting up any kind of amp?

I researched a ton before I pulled the trigger on this one AND being in the FB group with their test users/engineers. It's a great product, but of course has some small quirks, but nothing that outweighs the benefits of an outstanding large screen. I can report after over 3 months of use, there's been no glitching, no weird software issues, etc. It's just worked. I have another brand's screen in my F150 and that regular loses the BT signal and has to be re-booted, along with other trivial problems. I didn't have much choice on that one because it's a couple generation old F150 (2011).

From what I hear for the group, no. It has all of the connections for both an amp and subwoofer. I am only running the C12 and a full set of Kicker speakers including the Subaru tweeters
