Is the reverse light switch part of the Park Neutral safety switch on an automatic transmission? If so, where exactly is it located?
I do not have an owners manual. Thanks for your help.

Check fuses first, also do a visual check under the truck near the bumper for any wiring damage. Especially if you have trailer wiring.

Thank you. My question was also to confirm that the reverse lights switch is not a separate switch for an A/T as it is on a manual trans. In my research of reading (before posting) I think I understand the switch is with the Park Neutral Safety switch with an automatic trans. And that’s interesting to me because about 30 minutes earlier of discovering I have no reverse lights, I was turning around last night in a tight space that required several reverse-forward maneuvers. At the last reverse when I dropped it in forward and gave gas, for a split second the truck did not move then suddenly lurched a bit then engaged. It was so slight and quick a passenger wouldn’t have even noticed. It was more of a feel than a sound.
Something in my gut tells me in that split second the switch failed or blew or whatever they do. But I will check fuse first. But just in case, I still can’t find info on where the switch actually is.

I can't share schematics due to my employment but I can tell you it uses the PNP switch on the transmission.

It is a black red wire going in (pin3 should have 12v), and red black wire going out (pin2 only 12v in reverse).

It is part of the PNS switch.
It is not a separate switch.IMG_0286.jpg

Thank you. In my research I did come across this same schematic. And though I am not versed well enough to fully understand it I took a screenshot. But I still don’t know exactly where the switch is located. But thank you for confirming it is the PNS switch.

It’s usually bolted to the side of the transmission.
I have a 2nd Gen truck. Mine will look different, or I’d post a pic.

Let me see if I can find a picture of a 1st Gen switch.
